I am seriously so fed up with these cheap crossbars I got off Amazon. The listing promised a perfect fit for my 2022 Chevy Traverse but honestly they are garbage. They whistle so loud above 40mph it sounds like a tea kettle is going off on my roof and I noticed some scuffing on the side rails yesterday when I was washing the car. I am ready to just chuck them in the trash and spend the money on something that actually works because we have a huge family trip to the Smoky Mountains coming up in three weeks and I refuse to listen to that whistling for ten hours straight.

I need something that actually locks in tight and wont ruin the paint. Here is what I am looking for:

Budget is around $450 tops if possible

Must be able to hold a heavy Thule cargo box without shifting

Prefer something low profile so I can still get into my garage

Needs to be quiet because my kids will lose it if the car is making weird noises the whole way there

Does anyone have a specific brand or model that they use on their Traverse? I keep seeing Thule and Yakima but they have like fifty different fit kits and I am so confused on which one actually matches the Chevy rails without needing a PhD to install...

My dealer in Miami has been stringing me along for six months on some simple side sills and they just pushed the date back again. The price they quoted for the engine bay panels is actually insane too, like i love the car but i cant justify those markups for plastic-feeling trim.

So I finally bit the bullet and traded in my 2019 Laramie for the new Ram 1500 REV and man, the power is insane compared to the old Hemi but Im finding out real quick that an electric truck needs a totally different setup than what I'm used to. Ive been driving Rams since the early 2010s so I know my way around a bed liner and a tool box but this whole frunk situation and the charging cable management is tripping me up.

My main issue right now is that the frunk is basically just a giant empty plastic cave and everything I put in there just slides around like crazy when I take a turn so I need some serious organization ideas for that. Also since range is actually a factor now I'm looking for a bed cover that doesnt kill my miles per kwh because I heard some of the bulky ones can create a lot of drag and I really want to maximize that 500 mile range if I can.

Heres what Im working with:

Budget: looking to spend maybe $2500 to $3000 max for the first round of mods

Location: out in the PNW where it rains non stop so everything has to be weather sealed

Use case: mostly hauling gear for the kids soccer games but we do a lot of light trail camping on the weekends

Specific needs: something to keep the charging cable from tangling up in the back and maybe some screen protectors for that massive infotainment center because my kids already have it covered in smudges

Ive seen some guys talking about portable power banks to supplement the onboard outlets but I dont know if thats overkill since the REV already has a ton of exportable power. Also wondering if anyone has found a good solution for the under-seat storage since the battery layout changed things a bit under there compared to the ICE models. What are you guys actually using day to day that makes the transition from gas to electric easier? I dont want to buy a bunch of junk that just sits in the garage...

I finally got my hands on a 6-speed Blackwing in Electric Blue after waiting like a year and a half for the allocation to come through and honestly im kind of annoyed with the lack of aftermarket support compared to the older CTS-V stuff. Ive been scouring the forums and I keep seeing people talk about the Savage Cadillac carbon fiber bits but then half the comments say the fitment is hit or miss and it takes months to ship. Then theres the official GM accessories but they want like $5k just for a front splitter which is just highway robbery at this point.

Im mostly looking to sharpen the look and maybe get a little more sound out of the LT4 without immediately voiding my powertrain warranty since Im in Miami and the heat soak here is already brutal enough. I looked into the AWE exhaust but some guys on YouTube say it drones like crazy on the highway and this is my daily driver for my commute to Fort Lauderdale so I cant deal with that. Ive got about 8 grand set aside to get started but Im stuck between going for aero or trying to find a reliable intake and cooling setup that actually fits right.

Has anyone actually found a middle ground for high quality carbon that doesnt cost as much as a used Honda? Also what are you guys doing for performance that wont get my dealer to flag the car the second I roll in for an oil change?

Ive been wrenching on my own cars for over a decade now and Ive handled my fair share of Audi maintenance on my 2016 C7 A6 but this air suspension issue is really starting to get to me. Usually I can track down a leak pretty fast with some soapy water but this one is being stubborn. The front driver side keeps dropping overnight and even though I swapped out the level sensor last month thinking it was just a calibration glitch the problem came back.

I hooked it up to VCDS and Im seeing some codes for the compressor duty cycle being too high so I know its working overtime to keep up. Im trying to figure out if its the actual bag itself or maybe something in the valve block acting up because I really dont want to drop 800 bucks on a new strut if I dont have to especially since Im supposed to drive down to my cousins wedding in Philly next week and I need the car reliable. I already checked the lines for kinks and did the spray test on the visible parts of the strut but nothing.

check valve block

spray air lines

test compressor output

calibrate sensors

Is there a specific sequence I should follow to isolate the leak without just throwing parts at it? Like should I bypass the valve block first or check the reservoir tank connections before I tear the whole front end apart? Just trying to map out the teardown steps before I spend my whole Saturday under the wheel well...

I finally pulled the trigger on a new 2024 Escalade last week and man, the interior is so nice I’m actually terrified of my kids ruining it already. We’re up in Chicago so with winter coming the salt and slush is gonna be a nightmare for those carpets.

I’m basically torn between two directions for the floor mats. On one hand, everyone says get WeatherTech because they’re indestructible, but then I saw those TuxMats and they look way more high-end, like they actually match the Cadillac vibe better. My logic was that WeatherTech might look a bit too utility truck for such an expensive SUV, but I’m worried if the TuxMats are actually hard to clean when they get really caked in mud.

Also looking at center console organizers since that deep bin is just a black hole. There’s a basic $20 plastic insert on Amazon or this $60 one that has a built-in light and better dividers. Is the extra $40 worth it for a piece of plastic? I’ve got about $500 set aside for this first protection phase before we take our first road trip to see family next month. If you guys had to choose between the ruggedness of WeatherTech or the look of TuxMat, which one actually holds up better in a luxury cabin?

I just got a pre-owned 2021 BMW 3 series like two weeks ago and I love it but honestly it looks kinda boring sitting in the driveway next to my neighbors car. I think theirs has like extra bits on the bottom and the trunk? I don't really know the right words for this stuff so please bear with me because I am totally new to the whole car scene. I see people talking about diffusers and lips and stuff on these groups but I have no clue what is actually worth buying or if I can even install it myself without messing up the paint.

My budget is probably around $900 for now and I really want it to look a bit more sporty before my brothers wedding in October since I am driving some of the family around. I live in a place where it rains a lot so I dont want stuff that is gonna rust or fall off after one big puddle. Is there like a starter kit or something for people who dont know what they are doing? I just want some simple things that make the car pop a little more without looking like I tried too hard. What are the best things to start with for the outside of the car?

I've been a Toyota guy for years, literally drove my 2005 Corolla into the ground with 300k miles on the clock so I know my way around a wrench and the basic maintenance stuff like doing my own oil and spark plugs. But man, trying to find a decent RAV4 lately has been a total nightmare. I thought I knew what to look for but every time I go to look at one it’s either way overpriced or has that weird transmission flare or the roof leaks I've been reading about on the newer ones.

I'm specifically looking for something solid for my weekend trips out to the trails near Bend. My current sedan just isnt cutting it for the forest service roads anymore and I need the clearance. I was looking at the 4th gens because I heard the 2.5L 2AR-FE engine is basically immortal but then I started seeing stuff about the torque converter shudder on the 2013-2015 models and now I'm second guessing everything. I even looked at a 2016 last weekend but the guy didn't even know when the diff fluid was last changed and it had this weird musty smell in the headliner like he tried to cover up a leak.

Here's what I'm hunting for if anyone is looking to part with theirs:

Budget is firm at $21,000 cash in hand

Needs to be AWD (obviously, for the snow and mud)

Preferably under 120k miles but I can go higher if the service records are legit

No salvage titles or major accidents please

Ideally the XLE trim because I really want the sunroof and the better seats for my back

I've been scouring Craigslist and Marketplace for weeks but it feels like everything is either a scam or sold within five minutes of being posted. I'm really trying to avoid the dealerships and their crazy doc fees if I can help it. Does anyone here have a lead on a well-maintained one or maybe you're thinking of upgrading to the Prime and want to sell your old one? I'm ready to pull the trigger pretty much immediately if the car is right. Just really curious if anyone knows of a specific year I should actually be targeting instead because some people say stay away from the 2019s due to the first-year-redesign gremlins and I really dont want to deal with transmission hunting issues while I'm trying to get to a trailhead...

Ive been searching for a RAV4 for weeks now and Im honestly about to lose it. My old Corolla finally kicked the bucket last Tuesday and I need a car like yesterday because the bus commute to my job in North Austin is taking two hours each way. I have about $22k saved up which I thought would be plenty for a decent 2017 or 2018 model but everything I see online is either way overpriced or sold the second it hits the market.

I spent all last night on FB Marketplace and Craigslist and I found a couple that looked okay but then I started reading about these battery drain issues on the 2019-2021 models and then some other site said to avoid the 2013-2015 ones because of transmission shudder. Now Im just sitting here staring at my screen completely paralyzed because I dont know which years are actually safe and every local dealer I call says they dont have anything on the lot under $30k which is insane for a used car.

If anyone knows someone selling one privately around Pflugerville or Round Rock please let me know. I really need to get this sorted by Monday so I dont have to keep asking my sister for rides. Does anyone have leads on listings that arent just those contact for price bait and switch ads? I just want a reliable car for work...
