It is honestly such a letdown when you spend that much on a brand new car and the protection is just total garbage. I went through a similar disaster with my last SUV where the mats were so small they might as well have been napkins... spent way more money than I should have because I kept trying cheaper brands that just didnt hold up. I remember one rainy season here where my floorboards stayed damp for weeks because the mats let water soak right into the edges. It smelled like a locker room for a month. Since you are worried about the curling and the slippery feel of the hard plastic ones, you might want to look at 3D MAXpider Kagu Series Floor Mats Kia Sportage Hybrid. They arent that stiff, industrial plastic that some brands use.

Design: They have a multi-layer construction that actually looks kinda high-end and matches the Sportage interior way better than bulky rubber.

Safety: The bottom layer is this patented stuff that acts like velcro so they dont slide under the pedals. Nothing scares me more than a mat moving while I am driving.

Coverage: They cover the dead pedal area completely, which is usually where most of the mud from your left foot ends up.

Cleaning: You just pull them out and give them a quick spray. They dry way faster than those thick rubber ones. I think I paid around $190 for mine. Just make sure you double check the listing for the HEV specifically because of that battery hump. Good luck with the mountain trip tho, hopefully you get these in time to save your carpet!

Honestly, I have been pretty disappointed with the quality of the high-end accessories lately. I spent way too much on parts that ended up rattling or just looking cheap after a few months. Here is what I found works better if you are trying to save some cash and do it yourself.

Skip the bulky hood guards. I found they actually trap salt and grit which ruins the paint. Instead, I bought a roll of 3M Scotchgard Paint Protection Film Pro Series and applied it to the leading edge. It is a bit of a project to get the bubbles out, but it is way cheaper and safer for the finish.

For the roof, I tried some pricey aero bars that still whistled. I ended up with Brightlines Universal Roof Rack Crossbars. They are much more affordable, though the hardware quality isnt the best so you gotta be careful not to strip the bolts during install.

Regarding the windows, the in-channel ones I bought kept triggering the anti-pinch sensors on my Outlander. I switched to Auto Ventshade AVS Tape-On Ventvisor. They dont look quite as integrated, but they actually work without messing with the motor. Just make sure you take your time with the prep work or the adhesive wont hold in the heat.

Honestly I am so incredibly fed up with these factory all-weather mats that the dealership basically forced me to buy when I picked up my Sportage Hybrid last month. I paid like $160 for them and they are absolute garbage. They dont even cover half the floorboards! I live up near Seattle and with all the rain weve been getting lately my car is already starting to look like a swamp inside and its making me so anxious because this is the first nice new car Ive ever owned.

Every time the kids get in the back after soccer practice there is just mud and grass everywhere because the mats dont have any kind of lip on the edges to actually hold the gunk in. It just slides right off onto the beige carpet and I spent two hours yesterday trying to scrub out a stain that I swear is never gonna fully go away. I am literally losing sleep over the thought of the carpet getting ruined before I even hit 2,000 miles. I need something that actually fits the 2024 hybrid model specifically because I know the floor layout is slightly different than the gas version.

I have about $250 to spend and I really need to get this ordered like today because we are supposed to go on a trip to the mountains in two weeks and I know the slush and road salt will just destroy the interior if I dont get better protection. I was looking at WeatherTech but I keep reading reviews saying they curl up at the edges after a while which sounds like a total nightmare for the price. My main requirements are:

high edges to catch mud and melted snow

custom fit that covers the dead pedal area

something easy to spray off at the car wash

material that wont get slippery when its wet

Has anyone tried those TuxMat ones or maybe the Lasfit? I saw some people talking about how TuxMat covers almost everything but they look kinda bulky in the pictures... do they actually stay put? I just want something that I can spray down with a hose and not have to worry about my car smelling like wet dog every time it rains. What are you guys using that actually works...

Before I dive into the details, are you planning on leaving your iX parked for long stretches like at an airport, or is this mostly for security while running errands? That really affects the battery advice tho. I ended up very satisfied with the BMW Advanced Car Eye 3.0 after looking at all the options. Here is why it works well for a conservative setup:

Official integration: Since its a BMW part, it is designed to communicate properly with the iX power management system.

No warnings: Unlike some 3rd party setups, I havent seen a single battery discharge warning.

Warranty: Having it installed at the dealer keeps everything safe regarding your electronics coverage. I did look at the Vantrue N4 Pro 3 Channel 4K Dash Cam because the video quality is technically better, but for me, reliability and vehicle health were more important.

Man, it is honestly such a bummer how most aftermarket stuff just ruins the vibe of a ninety-thousand dollar interior. I tried those generic bulky liners in my rig recently and they were a total disaster for the sliding mechanism. The tolerances on the QX80 seat tracks are surprisingly tight and if you go too thick with a heavy-duty tray, youre gonna hear that dreaded motor strain or find bits of plastic shaving off into your carpet. Unfortunately, a lot of what people call high-end is just rebranded industrial plastic that feels like a work truck. For the back of the seats, if you want to avoid that tacky saggy look, I really suggest Canvasback Custom Cargo Liner for Infiniti QX80 Black Fabric. It actually attaches directly to the upholstery and follows the seat fold, so it looks way more integrated than those hanging kick mats. It covers the back of the second and third rows without interfering with the flip-up action. To save your quilted leather from car seat damage, I use the Prince Lionheart 2-Stage Car Seat Protector High-Density Foam. It uses a high-density foam that actually stops those permanent indentations in the soft leather that honestly make me want to cry when I see them. Since youre heading to the Rockies, the slush and salt are gonna be a nightmare. Id grab a Chemical Guys Leather Cleaner and Conditioner Kit 16oz Set to keep in the glovebox. That Autograph leather is porous and if you dont wipe the salt off fast itll leave a nasty white ring. Spend the rest of that five hundred on a good detail when you get back lol.
