I just picked up a 2023 Atlas SEL and honestly the trunk space is okay but with the kids and the dog we are totally cramped for our trip to Moab next month. I started looking into roof racks and man it is a rabbit hole. So I was thinking about just getting the official VW base bars because they are guaranteed to fit, but then I saw a bunch of people on some other forum saying they sit way too high and look like antlers. My logic was that if they are higher up maybe they wont interfere with the panoramic sunroof but then I worry about the wind noise on the highway.

I did some digging into the Thule WingBar Evo and the Yakima JetStream because they look way sleeker. People say they are super quiet but then I read this one thread where a guy said his cargo box clamps actually scratched his sunroof because the bars were too low profile. That is exactly what I am trying to avoid. I dont want to spend $600 on racks just to crack a $2000 piece of glass. Also if I go with Thule, do I need the specific fit kit or can I just use the universal grabber things for the raised rails?

I am also trying to figure out which cargo box actually fits the length of the Atlas roof without hanging over the windshield too much or blocking the hatch from opening all the way. I looked at the Thule Motion XT XL but it seems massive. Maybe the Large is enough? We need to fit camping gear and maybe a couple pairs of skis in the winter. Budget is around a grand for everything if I can find a deal but I can go higher if it means the sunroof stays safe. I am based in Denver so I am gonna be using this thing almost every weekend once ski season starts back up.

Does anyone here have the pano roof and actually use it with a rack? I really want something that stays on year-round without whistling like crazy when I am doing 80 on the interstate. Should I stick with the chunky OEM ones for safety or is there a specific Thule/Yakima setup that definitely clears the glass...

What exterior accessories are actually going to make my GLI look more aggressive without going overboard? I just got a 2023 in Pure Gray and while the red accents are cool the car feels a bit too regular Jetta from certain angles especially the rear end. I have about 800 bucks set aside for some cosmetic stuff right now and I'm really torn between two different directions.

First option is going with the Aerofabb front splitter and maybe their rear spoiler extension. I keep seeing them on Instagram and the fitment looks super clean like it came from the factory that way. My concern is I live in Chicago and the potholes here are basically craters so I'm scared of snapping a 400 dollar piece of plastic on day one. It just seems like a lot of money for something that sits two inches off the ground.

The other route I'm looking at is the ECS Tuning gloss black kit... specifically their trunk lip and maybe some side skirts. It would let me do more parts for the same money but I’ve heard their quality control can be hit or miss lately with the mounting tape and gaps not being perfect. I really want that OEM plus vibe where it looks like a special edition from VW directly.

Which one would you guys pick if you were trying to keep it tasteful? Should I prioritize one high quality piece or get the full wrap-around look with something a bit cheaper?

What interior accessories are actually worth the money for a brand new ID.4 because I pick mine up this Friday and Im lowkey freaking out about keeping it clean? I finally pulled the trigger on a 2023 Pro S after months of waiting but now that its actually happening I realized I have nothing ready for it and the dealership keeps trying to upsell me on these crazy expensive protection packages that I just cant afford right now.

I live in Seattle so its basically raining 24/7 and I have a labradoodle who loves mud and two kids who think the backseat is a trash can so floor mats are my top priority. I spent hours looking online and everyone says to get either Lasfit or WeatherTech but then I saw a thread saying the Lasfit ones sometimes slide around and the WeatherTech ones feel too much like a utility van and not a nice car. Is there a middle ground that looks sleek but actually catches the PNW muck?

Also the piano black trim... oh my god. I read that it scratches if you even look at it wrong and my wedding ring is definitely gonna destroy that center console within a week. I saw some people talk about those wrap kits or covers but they look kinda cheap in the photos or hard to install and I am literally the least handy person on earth so I dont want to mess up a brand new car.

Here is what I am looking at so far:

heavy duty floor mats that dont look like a truck

something for that deep center console because it just looks like a giant hole where stuff will get lost

maybe a screen protector? (some people say the glare is worse with them though)

seat covers for the back so the dog doesnt ruin the vegan leather

I have about $500 set aside for this and I really want to get it right the first time before the kids and the dog do their worst this weekend. Does anyone have specific brands that actually fit perfectly? I really dont want to be returning stuff to Amazon for the next month...
