What's the best wireless phone charger that seamlessly integrates with an Audi A8's interior and provides fast, reliable charging? Are there specific models designed to fit the A8's console or dashboard without obstructing other controls? What are your experiences with different wireless chargers in terms of charging speed, compatibility with various phone sizes and cases, and overall ease of use in the A8?

I've messed around with a few setups in my A8 over the last few years and you really have to be careful about heat buildup in that center console area. If you're looking for something that actually works without looking like a mess, I'd suggest looking at these two options:

  • Inbay Wireless Charging Tray for Audi A8 4N
  • Pitaka MagEZ Car Mount Pro 2 The Inbay is probably the most integrated look you can get. It basically replaces the rubber mat in your console. Just a warning tho, the install involves some trim removal and if you have a massive phone like a Pro Max with a thick case, it might be a tight fit. It can get a bit warm since there isnt much airflow in that spot. The Pitaka is technically superior because it has a built-in cooling fan. It's great if you use MagSafe, but be careful where you mount it. You dont want to block the MMI screen or damage the vent slats because they're pricey to replace. I would suggest checking your phone dimensions first before going the Inbay route so you dont get stuck with a tray that's too small. Let me know if you need a hand with the install steps for the console trim.

Ive spent quite a bit of time looking into this for my A8. Honestly, the factory Audi Phone Box gets way too hot for my liking, which isnt great for the battery long-term. If you want something that looks factory but actually performs, I suggest a custom-fit tray.

  • Heat dissipation: Many cheap chargers lack cooling. Look for something with vents so you dont cook your phone.
  • Integration: For the A8, you really want something that fits the console shape precisely so it doesnt slide around.
  • Power output: Stick to 10W or 15W for decent speeds, especially if you use navigation while charging. I use the CarQiWireless Wireless Charger for Audi A8 2019-2024. It drops right into the center console and looks like it was there from the factory. It connects via the 12V port so you arent messing with the main wiring harness, which is safer for the cars electronics. If you need the screen visible, the ESR HaloLock Magnetic Car Mount is a decent option, but it breaks the clean lines of the dashboard. Just be sure to use a high-quality cable so you dont get intermittent charging issues.
