I'm struggling to find a mount that doesn't block the iDrive screen or look messy in my F22 interior. I’ve tried a generic vent clip, but the slats feel a bit flimsy. Does anyone use a Rennline or ProClip that fits the 2 Series dash well? Looking for something sturdy that handles spirited driving. What are you guys using?
Honestly, I've been down that same road with my F22, and it's frustrating how many "premium" mounts just don't cut it. Well, actually, I started with a generic vent clip too, but it felt like it was gonna snap the trim during any spirited driving. Not exactly the safety I was looking for. I eventually bit the bullet on the Rennline ExactFit Magnetic Phone Mount for BMW 2 Series F22 and it's... okay, but honestly not as good as I expected for the price.
If you want something truly sturdy that won't block the iDrive, I'd suggest the ProClip Center Mount 855010 for BMW 2-Series. It clips over the trim gaps so it's rock solid. Just keep in mind you have to buy the specific ProClip Adjustable Phone Holder 511667 to go with it. It’s a bit of an investment, but I really believe it's the only way to keep the interior looking clean while staying secure. Hope this helps!
Tbh, I’ve gotta disagree a bit on the need for those high-end custom brackets. I’ve been driving F2x chassis cars for years now, and I used to think the "premium" price tag meant better stability, but that wasn't really my experience. Ngl, I spent way too much money on those fancy metal ones that screw into the dash trim, only to realize they were just as annoying to look at after a month. So basically, I stopped looking at the expensive "BMW-specific" stuff and just experimented with where I was actually placing the device. I eventually landed on a setup that sits much lower down, tucked away from both the vents and the iDrive screen entirely. It’s way more secure for spirited runs because the center of gravity is lower, you know? Plus, it didn't cost me an arm and a leg. Honestly, some of those expensive options are a bit overkill and can actually rattle more over time if the fitment isn't 100% perfect. Just my two cents, but you can definitely get a solid, "no-shake" setup without dropping a ton of cash on a brand name.
