Hey everyone! I finally took delivery of my G80 BMW M3 Competition in Isle of Man Green, and while I’m absolutely in love with the stock look, I feel like it’s missing a bit of that aggressive personal touch. It’s my daily driver, so I’m looking for exterior mods that offer a clean, OEM+ aesthetic without making the car impossible to drive over speed bumps or driveways.
I’ve been eyeing some carbon fiber additions—specifically a front lip and maybe some side skirt extensions—but I’m torn between the official M Performance parts and some of the high-quality aftermarket options like Vorsteiner or Adro. The factory wheel gap is also bothering me a bit; has anyone here had good experiences with a specific lowering spring or HAS kit that doesn't ruin the adaptive suspension feel? I'm also considering 12mm or 15mm spacers to get that flush fitment, but I'm worried about stone chips on the rear arches.
I want to make sure I’m investing in quality pieces that won't yellow or crack after a few months of sun exposure. If you’ve modded your M3, what were the first few things you changed, and do you have any brand recommendations that offer the best fit and finish? Specifically, what’s the most "must-have" exterior mod in your opinion?
Seconding the recommendation above!! Honestly, the BMW M Performance Height Adjustable Spring Kit is the only way to go if you wanna keep that adaptive damping feeling 100% factory while killing that wheel gap. Plus, no warranty headaches which is huge for a daily! But yeah, if youre worried about budget, you dont always have to go full M Performance or Vorsteiner for carbon. I mean, definitely check out the MHC+ G80 M3 Front Lip Splitter in Pre-Preg Carbon Fiber. Pre-preg is the gold standard—it’s super light and wont yellow or crack in the sun like cheap resin does. Also, for the stone chips? You gotta grab some MHC+ BMW G80 M3 Front Mud Guards. Theyre basically invisible but save your rear arches from getting sandblasted if you run spacers. Honestly the best value mod for protection imo lol. Isle of Man Green is such a mood, gl with the build!
In my experience, if ur looking for that perfect OEM+ look without ruining the ride, you gotta go with the BMW M Performance HAS (Height Adjustable Spring) Kit. I've tried many setups over the years, and this one actually keeps the adaptive suspension feeling stock while killing that nasty factory wheel gap... For the flush fitment, I'm running Future Classic M3 G80 12mm Wheel Spacers up front and 15mm in the back. To deal with those stone chips - cuz yeah, those wider tires throw everything - definitely grab some TLG Mud Flaps for BMW G80 M3 - they're lowkey and save ur paint! Regarding carbon, honestly, the Vorsteiner Carbon Fiber Front Spoiler is the sweet spot. It's more aggressive than the M Performance piece but doesn't look like a snowplow like Adro... basically highkey perfection for a daily. Just make sure it's pre-preg so it wont yellow! gl

Congrats on the G80!!! Isle of Man Green is such a killer color. From a technical and reliability standpoint, here are a few things you should consider before just bolting on parts: - Basically, for any suspension work, stick with KW. They do massive amounts of R&D on things like high-speed damping and structural integrity. You want something that won't compromise the chassis rigidity or your safety at high speeds.
- If your looking for carbon that actually lasts, go with Akrapovic for the exterior trim. Their manufacturing process involves high-pressure autoclaves which ensures there are no air bubbles in the resin that lead to cracking during heat cycles.
- For spacers, just make sure they're forged aluminum and hubcentric. Reliability is everything here—you dont want cheap cast stuff failing under heavy lateral loads.
- Tbh the most "must-have" mod is a full front-end PPF. Your paint is going to get sandblasted if you don't protect it, especially with the way these cars kick up rocks from the front tires. It keeps the car looking factory fresh tho.
To add to the point above: I totally agree on the stance making or breaking the look of the G80! Just wanted to share what I learned the hard way with the carbon parts tho. When I first started modding mine, I went with a cheaper carbon kit from a random online shop thinking it would be fine. Big mistake! Within 4 months of sitting in the sun, the clear coat started looking milky and then it basically turned a nasty yellow shade. It looked so bad next to the Isle of Man Green! I ended up ripping it all off and getting a high-end pre-preg setup instead. The fitment was night and day... literally bolted right up with zero gaps. If you are dailying this thing, dont skimp on the resin quality or you will be doing the job twice like I did! TL;DR: Buy high-end carbon the first time. The cheap stuff yellows in the sun and the fitment is usually trash.
