Hey everyone! I recently picked up a 2019 3 Series (G20), and I’m looking to add a little flair to the doors. The stock puddle lights are pretty weak and just give off a dim, yellowish glow that doesn't really match the modern look of the car. I’ve seen some BMWs around town with those super sharp 'ghost light' logo projectors that hit the pavement when the door opens, and I definitely want to go that route.

I’ve been browsing Amazon and eBay, and there are literally hundreds of options ranging from $15 to $120. My main concern is image quality; I don’t want something that’s going to look blurry, distorted, or start fading after just a few months of use. I’m also a bit worried about potential 'bulb out' errors on the dash or fitment issues with the wiring harness, as I've heard some aftermarket kits don't snap in perfectly flush. I’m looking for a direct plug-and-play swap that doesn't require any splicing.

Should I just bite the bullet and buy the official BMW M Performance LED door projectors, or are there specific aftermarket brands that offer the same HD crispness for a better price? Also, does anyone know if the multi-logo kits are worth it, or do they just get stuck?

Has anyone here upgraded their door lights recently? Which brand did you go with, and how has the clarity held up over time?

yo, congrats on the G20! honestly, I've been down the rabbit hole with these puddle lights too. for your situation, I would suggest going with the BMW M Performance LED Door Projectors 63312414105. I know they're like $100+, but the cheap $20 Amazon ones literally fade within six months cuz they use film slides that burn out from the heat.

If you want to save a bit but still get high quality, check out MotiveMods High Definition LED Ghost Light Projectors or the Addictive On-Road BMW LED Door Projector Kit.

Here's why I'm cautious about the cheap stuff:
- The cheap ones often have blurry edges, whereas the OEM ones are CRISP.
- Fitment is a hit or miss; sometimes they rattle if they don't snap in right.
- The multi-logo kits are kinda gimmicky and the slides can get stuck... just pick one clean logo and stick with it.

Tbh, I'd just bite the bullet on the official ones. No errors, perfect fit, and they actually look premium. gl!

Seconding the recommendation above for sure. I've been messing with BMW electronics for over a decade, and honestly, the safety aspect is what most people overlook. While I'm not 100% sure if the G20 harness is identical to the older F30s, I recall some buddies having issues with cheap kits shorting out the Footwell Module (FRM) which is a HUGE headache to fix.

In my experience, you really get what you pay for with the lens quality. The official BMW ones use glass lenses that won't warp from the heat of being left on. If youre worried about the 'bulb out' errors, sticking closer to OEM or high-end glass-lens kits is the play because they actually match the factory resistance. Plus, those multi-logo kits always seem to rattle after a few months... totally not worth it imo. Better to have one sharp image that stays crisp than a blurry mess that might fry your wiring!!

Hey! It's a common upgrade for G20 owners to swap out those dim stock puddle lights. You're right to be concerned about image quality and potential errors.

For your 2019 G20, the official BMW M Performance LED door projectors (part number 63312463924 or 63315A64018) are a guaranteed plug-and-play solution, offering crisp, high-definition logos and perfect fitment without "bulb out" errors. They use durable lenses that resist fading over time, a common issue with cheaper aftermarket options that use film slides which can burn out from heat.

If you're considering aftermarket, prioritize brands with excellent reviews specifically for G20 compatibility, mentioning clear, non-fading projections and no dash errors. Look for those that use HD quartz glass lenses for better light transmission and reduced distortion. Some forum users have reported that many aftermarket versions that fit older F-series BMWs do not fit the G20, so double-check compatibility.

Regarding multi-logo kits, some users have found them to rattle or have issues with the lenses fading or getting stuck over time. It's often better to have one sharp, consistent logo than multiple lower-quality ones.

Ultimately, while genuine BMW parts are pricier, they offer peace of mind regarding quality, longevity, and seamless integration. If budget is a major concern, research reputable aftermarket brands that explicitly state G20 fitment and offer warranties on their products to ensure image quality and prevent issues like fading or errors.

For your situation, I would suggest checking out Gocontrol BMW LED Door Light Projectors. Honestly, I've tried those cheap $15 sets and they literally bake the film until the logo is just a blurry blob. Be careful with those. If you don't wanna drop $100+ on OEM, these mid-range glass-lens options are the way to go because they don't fade over time, you know? Just make sure to get the ones with the right harness pins so they're actually plug-and-play!
