What are the must-have interior accessories for a new BMW X5?

So I finally picked up my 2024 X5 xDrive40i today and I'm honestly terrified of getting the first scratch or spill in it. We are leaving for a 400 mile road trip up to the mountains this Friday morning and I have literally nothing to protect the interior yet. I spent way too much on this thing to have my 7-year-old and our Golden Retriever ruin the back seat in the first week lol. I've been scouring the forums all afternoon and I'm super torn on floor mats. Everyone says WeatherTech is the gold standard but then I saw people raving about TuxMats because they cover more of the carpet on the sides... but then some guy on a different forum said they feel cheap and plasticky under your feet? I don't want to ruin the luxury vibe of the cabin but I need something that can handle mud and spilled juice boxes and the dog's fur.

Also what are we doing about that massive curved screen? I saw those tempered glass protectors on Amazon but I'm worried it's gonna make the glare unbearable when the sun hits it from the side. Is it even worth it or does it just attract more fingerprints than the actual glass? My budget is probably around $700 for the immediate stuff but I can go higher if it's actually worth it for the long term protection of the leather. I’m also looking at some center console organizers because that deep bin is just gonna become a black hole for my keys and change.

I also need something for the back of the front seats so the kid doesnt kick them and leave permanent scuffs on the back of the Sensafin. I saw some cheap ones online but they look so tacky in a BMW. Are there any that actually look decent or should I just tell him to take his shoes off for the whole ride? I'm in such a rush because I need to get this stuff delivered by Thursday at the latest before we head out on the trip.

  • floor mats (OEM vs TuxMat vs WeatherTech?)
  • cargo liner for the dog (needs to be really durable)
  • screen protection for the iDrive 8.5
  • seat back protectors

What are the absolute essentials you guys bought right away to keep the interior looking mint? Is there anything I'm missing that is a total lifesaver for families? I feel like I'm overthinking this but I'm just stressed about the timeline...

I'm satisfied with TuxMat Custom Floor Mats for BMW X5 G05 for better coverage than OEM. The WeatherTech Cargo Liner for BMW X5 G05 works well for messy dogs. TL;DR: TuxMat floors, WeatherTech cargo.

TL;DR: Skip the tempered glass for the screen and go with a matte film to kill the glare. Grab the OEM backrest protectors because the cheap ones look terrible in a car this nice. Building on the earlier suggestion, TuxMats are solid for coverage, but honestly, I was disappointed with how they felt after a long drive. They can get a bit slippery when wet which is kind of annoying in a luxury SUV. About that curved screen... please dont get those thick tempered glass protectors from Amazon. I tried one and the glare was so bad I couldn't see the navigation map at noon. Plus, they show every single fingerprint. You really want something like the ScreenPro Matte Anti-Glare Screen Protector for BMW iDrive 8.5. It keeps that satin look and actually hides the smudges from the kids poking at the screen. For the seat backs, most of the stuff on Amazon looks like a cheap tactical vest strapped to your seats. Its pretty disappointing to put $20 nylon over Sensafin. I ended up getting the BMW OEM Travel and Comfort System Backrest Protector. It fits the contours perfectly and doesnt sag like the universal ones. It is a bit more expensive, but it wont ruin the interior aesthetic. One thing you definitely need before your trip is a console tray. The center bin is basically a bottomless pit without one. I use the Salusy Center Console Organizer Tray for BMW X5 G05 and it makes finding your keys way easier. Without it, everything just ends up in a jumbled mess at the bottom. Tbh, it should have come from the factory with one.

@Reply #2 - good point! Honestly tho if youre on such a tight deadline you should really just head over to Bimmerpost and search for the G05 interior protection master thread. It has dozens of pages with photos and people arguing over every tiny detail you mentioned. It is basically the bible for X5 owners and will give you a much better visual than we can provide here. You should also check YouTube for deep-dive accessory reviews. Just search for 2024 BMW X5 must have accessories and look for the top results. A few creators do a really methodical breakdown of mat options and screen protectors which is perfect for seeing glare issues in real light. The Reddit r/BMW community also has frequent posts about this if you search there. Most manufacturer sites have shipping maps so you can verify if things will actually arrive by Thursday.
