Hey everyone! I finally took delivery of my iX xDrive50 last week, and I am absolutely loving the driving experience so far. However, now that the 'new car' honeymoon phase is settling in, I’m starting to get a bit nervous about keeping the interior pristine. I have the Amido Sensatec interior, and while it looks amazing, I’m already seeing how quickly the stock carpet mats pick up dust and debris.
I live in an area where we get a fair amount of rain and the occasional muddy trail, so I’m looking for a solid set of all-weather floor mats and a cargo liner that can handle some abuse. Because the iX has that unique flat floor design in the front without the traditional transmission tunnel, I’m worried about finding something that fits perfectly without sliding around or looking awkward.
I’ve been eyeing a few different options. The official BMW OEM liners look sleek and obviously match the branding, but I’ve heard some people say the edges aren't high enough to catch significant spills or melting snow. On the other hand, I’ve always used WeatherTech in my previous SUVs, but I’m concerned their rugged, plastic-heavy look might clash with the more modern, lounge-like aesthetic of the iX cabin. I also saw a few mentions of TuxMat for their 'max coverage' design, but I’m curious if they interfere with the seat adjustment tracks or the accelerator pedal.
For the cargo area, I definitely need something that won't let my groceries slide around every time I use that instant torque, but it also needs to allow easy access to the under-floor storage compartment where I keep my charging cables.
Has anyone here tried a few different brands? I’d love to know which ones offer the best balance of high-wall protection and premium looks. Are the OEM mats the way to go for the best fit, or is there an aftermarket brand that provides better coverage for the dead pedal and rear passenger area?
Hey, so I actually went through this exact same headache last month. Ngl, I was super disappointed with the BMW iX All-Weather Floor Mats. They look sleek, but unfortunately the side walls are literally non-existent, so mud basically spills right onto the carpet... sooo annoying. Here is what I found:
- **OEM:** Premium look, but the shallow edges are not as good as expected for catching real dirt.
- WeatherTech FloorLiner for BMW iX: Rugged as heck, but I had issues with how it ruins the lounge vibe. Very plastic-y.
- TuxMat for BMW iX: Best choice imo. It covers everything and doesnt slide. I was worried about the accelerator clearance, but it fits perfectly. For the trunk, the WeatherTech Cargo Liner for BMW iX is way too stiff. Getting to the cables is a pain. I stuck with the BMW iX Fitted Luggage Compartment Mat cuz it's flexible enough to fold back. gl!
> "I’m looking for a solid set of all-weather floor mats and a cargo liner that can handle some abuse." Curious about one thing: are you more worried about the 'industrial' look or the actual technical coverage?? Basically, the iX flat floor makes the wall height super critical so debris doesnt migrate under the seats... I've found that the 3D MAXpider KAGU All-Weather Floor Mat for BMW iX is a great alternative that looks high-end. But before I go deep, does ur iX have the 4-zone climate? That totally changes how the rear mats fit!!
Similar situation here - I'm basically in the same boat as you. Just got my iX and was terrified of ruining those carpets. I'm a total beginner with luxury EVs, so I spent way too much time researching this. Tbh, I didn't wanna drop $300 on mats after already paying for the car lol. I looked at the stuff mentioned above, but I wanted something that didn't look like a construction site truck. I actually tried out a few things to see what worked without breaking the bank. My journey started with looking for 'value' options that still looked premium. Here's what I ended up with: * 3D MAXpider Kagu Series All-Weather Floor Mats for BMW iX - These were a lifesaver. They have a 'carbon fiber' texture that fits the iX vibe way better than WeatherTech, and they weren't as pricey as some custom brands.
* I know the others mentioned cargo liners already, but I found the Mixsuper Trunk Mat for BMW iX 2022-2024 on Amazon. It's way cheaper than the BMW one. It's got a fold line so you can still get to the charging cables underneath without taking the whole thing out.
* I also grabbed some Chemical Guys InnerClean Interior Quick Detailer 16 fl oz just to wipe down the Sensatec if mud actually gets past the mats. My main concern was the mats sliding and hitting the pedals... literally my biggest fear. I checked the fitment five times cuz I'm paranoid. My lesson learned is that you dont always need the 'official' gear to get good protection. Just make sure whatever you buy has those 'nib' grips on the bottom so they stay put!! Also, check there reviews for the flat floor fitment, cuz some cheap ones bunch up. I'd even suggest asking the service department to check the clearance if ur worried. Good luck with ur new ride!!
Good to know!
