Hey all, looking for coolant recommendations for my BMW X5. It's a 2016 model. I'm seeing a lot of different opinions online. What coolant type do you guys recommend using, especially considering the car's age?

I used BMW's blue coolant in my '14 X5. No issues in 5 years. It's a bit pricier, maybe $25 a gallon, but worth the peace of mind. Is your system flushed properly first?

BMW coolant (blue) is spec. While pricier, it's formulated for its alloy. Be careful mixing types; corrosion's a risk. Aftermarket coolants meeting BMW's LL-01 spec exist, but verify compatibility meticulously. I'd suggest sticking with BMW's; ~$30/gallon concentrate avoids potential headaches long-term. Make sure to flush the system completely when replacing.

For a 2016 X5, consider Pentosin Pentofrost A4. It's a good balance of protection and price. BMW coolant is great, but it can be pricey. Honestly, as long as it meets BMW's LL-01 spec, you're usually okay. Just flush the system properly first; that's the important part! Is a concentrate or premix better value where you are?

BMW coolant's the safest bet. Peace of mind is worth the extra $20. No corrosion worries.

Alright, coolant's a rabbit hole! Based on my research (and a bit of trial & error), BMW coolant is the safest bet, though pricey. Zerex is a popular aftermarket choice, often cheaper, but check compatibility. Over the years, I've noticed BMW coolant generally maintains better long-term system health, justifying the higher cost. Do your research, weigh the options, and good luck!

Been running BMW coolant in my '16 X5 for years, but honestly, it's been causing some corrosion. Switched to Pentosin Pentofrost A4 (about $25/gallon) last year – much better so far!

Hey! For DIY, Pentosin Pentofrost A4 is a decent option. Shop around – you might save $50+ doing it yourself versus the shop. Just be careful!
