I just got a new Envision and want to protect the paint from gravel and road salt. Are the official Buick OEM splash guards worth the premium price over generic sets? I'm mostly worried about the fitment and if they require any drilling. Do they actually provide better coverage for the specific body lines?

Just sharing my experience: I went through this last year when I tried to save a few bucks on some cheap universal flaps for my Envision. Honestly, it was a total nightmare. The generic ones I bought, basically some A-Premium Splash Guards for Buick Envision, claimed to be a direct fit but the mounting holes were way off. I spent two hours trying to line them up without drilling into the wheel well liner, but the gaps were so bad it looked like a hack job.
I eventually gave up and swapped them for the Buick Envision Molded Splash Guards that the first guy mentioned. Technically, the OEM set is superior because it uses the existing factory mounting pointsβliterally NO drilling required on the rear. The contouring actually matches the body lines perfectly, which keeps the road salt from sneaking behind the plastic. Itβs kinda disappointing how much more expensive they are, but after seeing how bad the fitment was on the knock-offs, the premium price felt worth it for the peace of mind. gl! 👍

Any updates on this?
In my experience, you should definitely stick with the OEM parts for the Envision. When I got my new Buick, I spent forever debating between the cheap Amazon stuff and the real deal, but I ended up going with the Buick Envision Molded Splash Guards. Honestly, I am sooo happy I did!!
I mean, the fitment is literally perfect because they're contoured to match the exact body lines of the wheel wells. I didn't have to drill a single hole into the metalβthey basically just use the existing mounting points and some clips. I've used generic sets on older cars before and they always look kinda janky or leave gaps where road salt gets trapped, which defeats the whole purpose, right? These provide way better coverage against gravel and that nasty winter slush. Quick tip: just make sure you clean the area really well before you bolt them on. It's totally worth the premium price for the peace of mind. gl!
