Hey everyone! I recently joined the Buick family with a new Encore GX, and while I’m absolutely loving the ride, I’m struggling to find the perfect setup for my phone. The dash layout is pretty sleek, but it doesn't leave much flat surface for a traditional suction mount, and I really want to avoid cluttering up the area with messy charging cables.
I’ve been looking for a solid wireless charging mount that fits the GX specifically. My main concern is the vent design—they seem a bit thin, and I’m worried a heavy phone like my iPhone 15 Pro Max might cause them to sag or even snap. Plus, I don’t want to block the infotainment screen since I use it constantly for navigation. I’ve looked at some of those 'universal' mounts on Amazon, but they always seem hit-or-miss with the Encore's interior geometry.
Does anyone here have a specific brand or model they’ve had success with? I’m looking for something that stays secure during bumpy drives and actually offers a decent charging speed. yo, welcome to the Encore GX club! I've had mine for three years now and honestly, I went through like three different mounts before finding what actually works with our weird dash layout. Since you've got that heavy iPhone 15 Pro Max, you definitely wanna stay away from the flimsy vent clips cuz I've seen them sag big time... literally looks like they're gonna snap.
In my experience, you've basically got two solid paths:

1. Honestly, safety is EVERYTHING! I eventually found a mount that grips the dash trim instead of the vents.
2. My current setup stays totally rock-solid on bumpy backroads, which is AMAZING for peace of mind.

This^ Also wanted to add that spending a fortune on those "custom" brackets is totally unnecessary when you can get professional-grade stability for half the price if you just know what to look for!

Most people dont realize it's usually not the mount that fails—it's the vent blade bending under the leverage. Honestly, I spent way too long researching because I am always paranoid about damaging the interior or having something fly off the dash while I am driving. I actually started with one of those big famous brands you see in every big box store, but it was just too much for me. It felt way too bulky and it kinda crowded the infotainment screen. I ended up switching to a different brand that focuses more on minimalist designs and I am so much happier now. It is night and day compared to the first one I tried. My current setup stays totally still even on the rough gravel roads near my house, which was my biggest fear. No complaints at all so far! It feels way more secure than the generic one I started with which felt like it was gonna fall off every time I turned a corner. Like someone mentioned, these GX dashes are totally unique and it seems like everyone is torn between the expensive custom clips or just winging it with magnets. Tbh you should just search YouTube for Encore GX phone mount mod and look for the one with the most views... it shows how to use some basic hardware to make a super clean mount that doesnt block the screen. Its seriously a game changer! Check Reddit too because there are some crazy threads about hidden mounting points behind the trim. You will love the results once you see the video tutorials!
