Honestly, I am still pretty new to all this car gear stuff, so I might be wrong about some of the details. I have been lurking on a few different groups lately and it seems like people have a lot of different opinions on what works best for these older models. Not 100 percent sure, but I think I heard that you really have to be careful with the weight ratings because the roof tracks might not be as sturdy as they used to be. Here are a few things I noticed people talking about:
Late to the party but wow, why is everyone talking about dash cams? OP is asking for a roof rack! Having owned my Rendezvous for ages, finding a good rack has been a real struggle. Some of those generic crossbars from a big box store were super disappointing... the wind noise was unbearable and the fit was just sketchy. Unfortunately, most of the stuff marketed for these older SUVs is pretty flimsy. Mounting brackets often dont sit flush on the factory rails, which felt like a safety hazard tbh. If you want something that actually works, I finally bit the bullet and got the Thule WingBar Evo 118cm setup with the Thule Rapid Crossroad 450R feet. It was definitely not as cheap as expected, but the build quality is night and day compared to the budget stuff. The noise is basically non-existent at 70mph and it actually feels solid when youve got a heavy load up there. Just watch out for the weight limits because the Rendezvous roof isnt as beefy as a modern Suburban...
