What phone mounts actually fit the Buick Encore GX without blocking the infotainment screen or those weirdly angled vents? Ive been a Buick owner for a decade but this new interior layout is a total headache for my MagSafe setup. I tried a clip-on but it just wobbles on the trim. Need something solid by next Friday for a road trip to Chicago...

TL;DR: stick to dash-specific bases. I suggest the ProClip Center Mount 855610 with the Belkin BoostCharge Magnetic Wireless Car Charger 10W. It stays solid, tho you should be careful during install to not scratch the plastic. Another route is the WeatherTech CupFone with Extension. It wont block the screen, but make sure to check if it hits your elbow while driving.

I spent way too much time testing stuff in my GX before I found a setup that didnt make me wanna rip the dash off. Honestly, if you hate those vent clips as much as I do, maybe look into a windshield suction mount. I know they can look kinda clunky, but they solve the whole screen blockage issue. I've been using the iOttie Easy One Touch 6 Dash & Windshield Mount for a few months now. It has this long telescopic arm that lets you position the phone basically anywhere. I keep mine just to the left of the infotainment screen so it's in my line of sight but doesn't hide the backup camera view or the air vents. For the wireless side of things, keep in mind that the GX cabin gets pretty hot in the sun, especially with the phone on the dash. I switched to the ESR Magnetic Wireless Car Charger with CryoBoost because it has a tiny fan built in. It's a lifesaver on longer drives like your Chicago trip because it stops the phone from thermal throttling while using GPS. The price is pretty fair too, usually around thirty or forty bucks. Just make sure the surface is super clean before you stick the suction cup down, or it'll pop off the second you hit a pothole. It's a decent middle ground between those expensive custom bases and the cheapo vent clips that never stay put. Tbh the suction can leave a little ring on the glass, but a quick wipe with some glass cleaner fixes that right up. Just a heads up that if you go the dash-mount route, the adhesive can be hit or miss on the Buick textured trim, so glass is usually safer for a quick fix before your trip next Friday.

Regarding what #1 said about sticking to dash-specific bases, I actually have to disagree with that approach for this specific car. While those custom clips are usually the gold standard, I have seen the Encore GX trim get pretty chewed up by the friction of those plastic mounts over time. The dash materials in these newer models feel a bit thinner than the older Buicks we are used to, and those clips can cause permanent indentations if you leave them on too long. I would suggest looking into a high-quality adhesive solution instead of a clip. It sounds risky but if you prep the surface right, its rock solid. You might want to consider the Scosche MagicMount Elite Magnetic Dash Mount because the zinc alloy base is heavy-duty and looks factory. Place it on that flat ledge just behind the infotainment screen. It keeps your phone in your line of sight for GPS without actually blocking the screen itself or messing with those weirdly angled vents. Since you are heading to Chicago next week, you definitely need a charger that handles heat. I would go with the ESR MagSafe Car Mount with CryoBoost. It actually has a built-in fan to keep the phone cool while it fast charges. Be careful tho, make sure you let the adhesive cure for at least 24 hours before you hang the phone on it, or it will just peel right off during your trip. Also, make sure to route the USB cable carefully around the dash so it doesnt get snagged in the gear shifter while you are driving.
