We’re planning a long road trip in our XT6 this summer, and with the third row in use, we’re definitely running out of cargo space! I’m looking for high-quality roof rack crossbars that won't ruin the Cadillac's sleek aesthetic. Wind noise is a big concern for me since we'll be on the highway for hours—I’d love something aerodynamic that doesn't whistle. I’ve been looking at the Thule WingBar Edge versus the factory OEM rails, but I’m not sure which fits the flush side rails better. Does anyone have experience with a specific setup that’s easy to install and remove? Also, which brands have you found to be the sturdiest for a heavy cargo box?
For your situation, I would suggest looking at the Yakima JetStream Crossbars instead of the Thule setup if you're trying to save a bit of cash. Honestly, I've found them to be just as aerodynamic as the Thule WingBar Edge, but they're usually $100 cheaper overall. Make sure to get the Yakima SightLine Towers for those flush rails tho, cuz they fit the XT6 profile perfectly. If you're worried about weight, they're super sturdy for a heavy box like the Thule Motion XT XXL Cargo Roof Box. Definitely worth the savings imo!
Oh man, I feel u on the XT6 cargo struggle. I honestly had issues with the factory OEM ones... they looked alright but the whistling was HORRIBLE on the highway. Ngl I was pretty disappointed. Basically, I ended up switching to a Thule setup and it's SO much better. Just go with Thule, honestly, you cant go wrong with their stuff for a heavy box. It's super sturdy and way quieter than the stock rails. 👍
In my experience, you gotta be careful with the setup on those flush rails. I've tried many over the years and most 'universal' kits are a total nightmare for noise.
1. OEM Rails: Honestly? These usually sit lower but the aero is hit-or-miss. They kinda look the best but the weight capacity is often lower than aftermarket.
2. Thule WingBar Edge: Hands down the sturdiest for a heavy cargo box. It's super quiet, but ngl, it's pricey.
3. Yakima: A solid middle ground, but I found the install can be a bit fiddly compared to others.
Go with Thule for the highway. Best choice for ur sleek aesthetic and my sanity lol.

Seconding the recommendation above about the aero bars! After 15 years of road tripping, safety is literally EVERYTHING to me. Ngl, I've seen too many loose boxes on the highway!!
- Try the Rhino-Rack Vortex StealthBar Black 2 Bar Roof Rack—it's incredibly sturdy, quiet, and fits flush rails like a glove.
- Always double-check your torque settings so nothing shifts mid-trip!
It's all about keeping your family safe while looking sleek. gl!
