Hey everyone! I’ve been absolutely loving my new LYRIQ, but now that the summer heat is starting to kick in, I’ve realized just how much sun that massive windshield lets in. I live in a pretty high-heat area, and after leaving the car parked outside for just an hour yesterday, the interior felt like an absolute oven. I’m really worried about the UV rays potentially damaging the dash materials or the screen over time, not to mention how much energy the AC has to use just to cool things down when I first get in.

I’ve been looking around for a high-quality sunshade, but the LYRIQ has such a unique, expansive windshield shape and that bulky sensor housing behind the rearview mirror. I’m hesitant to just buy a generic 'large' shade from a big-box store because I really want something that fits edge-to-edge without any gaps. I’m looking for something that is easy to fold up and stow away, as the cabin is so nice I don't want a messy, crumpled silver sheet sitting in the back seat when I have passengers.

I’ve seen a few custom-fit options online like WeatherTech and Covercraft, but they vary quite a bit in price. Some are the roll-up style, while others are the stiff folding panels. Has anyone here tried a specific brand that fits the LYRIQ’s dimensions perfectly? I’m particularly interested in how they clear the rearview mirror area and if they actually stay in place without sagging in the middle.

Does anyone have a go-to recommendation for a sunshade that offers the best heat rejection for this specific model, or is the official Cadillac accessory version worth the extra premium? Would love to hear what you guys are using to keep your cabins cool!

Hi there! I totally get the struggle with the summer heat in the LYRIQ—that windshield is absolutely massive, right? Honestly, I was in the exact same boat a few months ago when I first got mine. I was so worried about the dash and that beautiful screen getting baked!

In my experience, I would suggest going with the Covercraft Custom UVS100 Sunscreen for Cadillac LYRIQ. I ended up buying this one because I really wanted that rigid, high-end feel rather than those flimsy roll-up ones that always seem to sag after a week. It fits perfectly around that bulky sensor housing behind the mirror, which was my biggest concern too. No gaps at all!

I’ve been so happy with how it stays in place without any drooping in the middle. Plus, it’s really easy to fold up and slide into the back seat pocket when I have passengers, so it doesn't look messy. I actually looked at the WeatherTech Custom Fit SunShade for Cadillac LYRIQ as well, but I preferred the folding style of the Covercraft. It definitely makes a huge difference in how hard the AC has to work when I first hop in. Seriously, it's worth every penny to keep the cabin cool and protect that interior! Hope this helps!

For your situation, I would suggest looking at the WeatherTech SunShade Full Vehicle Kit for Cadillac LYRIQ or just the windshield portion. While others mentioned the Covercraft Custom UVS100 Sunscreen, I think the WeatherTech Custom Fit SunShade is a better value at around $60. It’s a bit more flexible, which makes navigating that bulky mirror sensor way easier than the stiff panels. It keeps the cabin significantly cooler without breaking the bank! ☀️

Respectfully, I'd consider another option before settling on those. In my experience with high-heat markets, the HeatShield The Original Custom Fit Sunshade for Cadillac LYRIQ actually outperforms the others. It's a roll-up style that uses a specific laminate material that doesn't sag over time like the folding ones can. It fits that massive sensor housing perfectly without any gaps. Just a quick tip: go for the 'Gold' series if you want the absolute best thermal rejection. ☀️

Hi there! Stumbled upon this yesterday and wanted to chime in. Before you buy anything, I've gotta warn you: stay away from those cheap "one-size-fits-all" spring-loop shades. In my experience, the LYRIQ's sensor housing is so bulky that generic shades puts weird pressure on the plastic trim, which could cause rattles later on.

Anyway, back to your question! For serious heat rejection, I've found that the WeatherTech Custom Fit SunShade is a solid middle-ground choice. It's dual-purpose (black on one side for winter), but honestly, it's a bit floppy. If you want that "pro" look with zero sag, I'd suggest looking at the HeatShield Custom Fit Sunshade. It's a roll-up style that uses a high-quality reflective film specifically cut for the LYRIQ's massive glass. It clears the rearview mirror perfectly without gaps. Just be careful rolling it up so you don't crease the material too bad! Hope this helps keep your cabin cool!

Late to the thread here, but really interesting to see the debate between the rigid vs. roll-up styles. Tbh, after looking at the thermal specs of the glass on these units, the biggest issue is definitely that massive surface area and how it interacts with the sensor housing. From my experience, the factory-spec stuff you find on the official Cadillac accessories site is usually the safest bet. I went that route because they use the actual CAD data from the interior design, so the fitment around the mirror is usually spot on compared to aftermarket brands that just eyeball it. It might cost a few extra bucks, but you get that edge-to-edge coverage without worrying about the sag. Just go with any of the official GM-branded options and you'll be fine. I tried a cheaper "high-temp" one from a random site and it basically melted under the Texas sun, sooo not worth it. Basically, if you want to protect that dash and keep the AC from working overtime, sticking to the official Cadillac catalog or any high-end brand that uses multi-layer thermal barriers is the way to go. Fits way better than the generic stuff.
