So I finally picked up my CT5-V Blackwing in Raven Black and honestly Im terrified of getting the first scratch on it. I live down in Miami and the bugs here are insane on the highway. I keep hearing about protection kits or whatever they call them but I have no idea where to even start or whats worth the money. Sorry if this is a super basic question but should I be looking at a film or some kind of spray? I have about $2500 set aside to keep it looking shiny but I dont know if thats too little.
Which brands or kits actually work for this car?
Focus on a high-quality track pack for that budget. Sprays wont stop rock chips, only physical film will. I recommend XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS 8 Mil Paint Protection Film for the front clip. Its thick enough to absorb impact and the self-healing properties work well in the Miami heat. For easier bug removal, layer Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra 10H Ceramic Coating over the film for maximum hydrophobicity and gloss.
Man, Raven Black is absolutely stunning when it's clean! Im pretty sure you can get a solid front-end clear mask for that budget. I think I heard some guys in my local club saying the self-healing stuff is amazing for those nasty Miami bugs. Not sure if $2500 covers the full hood and fenders though... might just be the bumper? Either way, you definitely need physical film for those rock chips!
