I finally took delivery of my CT5-V Blackwing, and while the 668 hp is absolute insanity, I’m already curious about unlocking a bit more potential. I’m specifically looking for mods that sharpen the throttle response and maybe bring out more of that supercharger whine. I’ve been eyeing a high-flow cold air intake and possibly a mid-pipe upgrade to beef up the exhaust note, but I’m hesitant about anything that might compromise the cooling system or daily reliability. I’m not quite ready for a full pulley swap yet, but I'd love to hear what others are doing. For those who have started modding, what are the best 'first steps' for performance upgrades that offer the most noticeable gains?
Honestly, I went down the "budget power" rabbit hole with a generic setup and actually regretted it when my IATs spiked during a summer track day. If you want more whine without risking your cooling, I'd stay conservative.
- Velossa Tech BIG MOUTH Ram Air Intake Snorkel helps ram air in while keeping the stock box's heat shielding.
- AWE Tuning Touring Edition Exhaust for Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing gives a deeper tone without drone.
Better to prioritize heat management first... trust me!
yo congrats on the pickup!! honestly, the CT5-V Blackwing is a beast but i totally get wanting more of that whine. For your situation, i highkey recommend starting with the Tapout Tuning CT5-V Blackwing Cold Air Intake. i installed it on mine and the supercharger sound is literally night and day compared to stock... it sounds amazing!! plus, it's a dry filter so no worrying about messing up sensors.
if youre looking for better throttle response without a tune, check out the Soler Performance Throttle Body for LT4. it's like $500-ish if i recall? it basically fixes that slight lag off the line and feels way more snappy. i did both of these and kept the cooling stock with zero issues. it's basically the perfect first step before you go down the rabbit hole of pulleys and heat exchangers. gl with the build dude! 👍

Just saw this thread and honestly, you gotta be careful about chasing the whine too hard without a plan. Be careful with those cheap generic open-box filters that claim to work for all V-series cars... they often heat soak like crazy in traffic and you'll actually lose power once the engine bay gets hot.
For your situation, I would suggest looking into a ported blower snout instead of just a pulley. It's a bit more labor-intensive, but it keeps the reliability high while seriously sharpening that response you're looking for. Since ur worried about cooling, maybe look at a reservoir expansion tank? It's a boring mod, but it helps keep temps consistent which is huge for daily driving. Basically, you're looking at maybe $800-$1,200 for a solid port job and it's way more cost-effective than a $3k full exhaust that might just drone. Ngl, the CT5-V is already so good that subtle tweaks go way further than throwing parts at it. Good luck!!
Saved for later, ty!
Jumping in here because I've actually had some annoying trial and error with these cars. Honestly, if you're looking for the best bang-for-buck without spending thousands on a full system, you gotta look at the exhaust. I was honestly a bit disappointed with some high-end setups that cost $2k+, but the Kooks Headers and Exhaust CT5-V Blackwing 3-inch Stainless Steel X-Pipe is a total steal for under $600. It deletes the factory resonators and rly lets that LT4 scream without being obnoxious for a daily.
Also, for throttle response, skip the pricey electronics for a sec. I've found that just dropping in a high-flow dry filter like the Green Filter High Performance Air Filter 7324 for around $100 makes a noticeable diff in tip-in feel and you get a tiny bit more whine for basically no money. Ngl, the stock airbox is actually decent, so just swapping the filter is a solid budget move before you drop big money on a full intake. Good luck with the build!!
