Seriously fed up with the road spray on my week-old Lyriq. My logic was that it would handle PNW rain better but the paint is already taking a beating. I was thinking mud guards or maybe a specific film? The dealer options are trash honestly. What exterior mods are actually worth the money for under $500?...
Re: "I would suggest getting Cadillac Lyriq Front and..." - unfortunately those splash guards just dont cut it for heavy PNW rain. The aerodynamics on this car actually pull the road mist right along the lower panels, which is a major design oversight imo. The paint Cadillac is using is also way thinner than I expected, it pits so easily... kinda frustrating for a luxury EV. For under $500, skip the dealer plastic and get a XPEL Ultimate Plus Paint Protection Film Pre-cut Kit for the rockers. It is a 8 mil polyurethane layer that stops actual chips. I would also apply Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light 30ml Ceramic Coating. The hydrophobic properties really help with that grimy spray. It is a bit of a project to install yourself, but I can give you some tips on the heat gun technique if you go that route. Just be super careful with the surface prep.
Ok adding this to my list of things to try. Thanks for the tip!
Been using this for years, no complaints
