Which charging and storage accessories are essential for Cadillac LYRIQ?

So I finally pulled the trigger on a 2024 LYRIQ and I am picking it up this Friday but honestly I am panicking a little bit because I have zero charging setup at home yet and my garage is a mess. I need to get a level 2 charger installed like yesterday. I am torn between the Emporia charger because the price is honestly unbeatable or the ChargePoint Home Flex which seems more rugged. I live in a part of Michigan where it gets stupid cold in the winter so I am worried about the cable getting too stiff to move but the Emporia is almost 200 dollars cheaper and I am already stretched thin after that down payment. Then there is the whole interior storage situation because that open space under the console is just a giant black hole waiting to eat my phone and keys. I am looking at those 3D printed organizer bins on Amazon versus the official Cadillac ones from the dealer. The dealer ones are like double the price for what looks like the same plastic tray but maybe the fit is better? I really need to get this stuff ordered tonight so it arrives by the weekend when I actually have the car in the driveway. Should I just splurge on the ChargePoint and the official bins or is the budget stuff actually gonna hold up?

Saw this thread and honestly, I am pretty disappointed with how some of these essential accessories turned out for me. I spent way too much time analyzing the technical data sheets for various Level 2 setups, and unfortunately, the cheaper 3D printed organizers were a complete letdown. The thermal stability of the plastic used in those budget bins is subpar; mine actually warped after just one week of the car sitting in the sun. It just didnt have the structural integrity I expected for a luxury vehicle accessory. I also had issues with the Emporia unit because I found the internal contactors were louder than I liked, and the cable management was kind of clunky. I ended up switching my approach entirely because I wanted better hardware specs and a more robust build.

  • Grizzl-E Classic Level 2 EV Charger 40A is what I finally settled on because it uses a heavy-duty internal architecture and a NEMA 4 aluminum enclosure.
  • BestEvMod for Cadillac LYRIQ Center Console Organizer Tray provides a much tighter tolerance than those flimsy 3D printed ones you see on Etsy.
  • Lectron Tesla to J1772 Charging Adapter 48A is also worth grabbing for your glovebox just in case you hit a hotel with only Tesla destination chargers. The Grizzl-E is impressive because it lacks the unnecessary smart features that often fail in extreme cold. Its basically a heavy-duty power supply that wont give you software errors at 2 AM when you just need the car to charge. Its worth getting something with a metal housing if you are worried about those Michigan winters.

Michigan winters arent a joke and you definitely dont want to be wrestling with a frozen charging cable at 6 AM. I would suggest going with the ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 EV Charger 50 Amp over the cheaper options. The cable stays noticeably more flexible when the temps drop below zero compared to the Emporia Smart Home EV Charger 48 Amp which can get pretty stiff. You might want to consider the long-term frustration factor there... saving 200 bucks now feels good but fighting a rigid cord for four months every year is a nightmare. Make sure to have a dedicated 60-amp circuit installed if you want the full charging speed tho. Regarding that black hole under the console, be careful with the cheapest 3D printed bins from random sellers. Some use materials that warp in the summer heat or just rattle constantly. If the official ones are too pricey, the Spigen Center Console Organizer for Cadillac LYRIQ is a solid middle ground that fits tight without the dealer markup. Also, a quick tip for the garage... get some MAXSA Park Right Parking Mat or even a simple tennis ball on a string before you pull that shiny new car in. The LYRIQ is longer than it looks and that front end is expensive to repair if you tap a workbench. Stick to the rugged charger, honestly its the better investment for our climate.

Like someone mentioned, the cold is no joke. I saw a neighbor's cheap charger crack during a deep freeze last year. Are you planning to hardwire the unit or use a 14-50 outlet? Safety-wise, I would suggest the Wallbox Pulsar Plus 48 Amp Level 2 EV Charger since it's UL listed and super compact for a messy garage. For storage, be careful with 3D printed bins... they often warp or rattle once the cabin gets hot.
