Hey everyone! I recently picked up a newer Chevrolet Blazer and I’m absolutely loving the drive, but I’m having a hard time finding the perfect spot for my phone. The dashboard layout is a bit unique with those large round air vents and the touchscreen placement, which makes my old universal vent clip pretty much useless. I’ve tried a basic suction cup mount on the dash, but the textured surface means it keeps popping off after a few miles.
I’m really looking for something that feels secure and doesn't block the infotainment screen or those iconic air vents. I’ve been looking at some custom-fit options like ProClip or maybe a magnetic mount, but I’m worried about adhesive residue or blocking my line of sight. Does anyone have a setup that actually stays put during sharp turns and doesn't rattle? I’m willing to spend a bit more for a high-quality solution that looks clean in the cabin. What are you guys using in your Blazers to keep your phone accessible for navigation without it being in the way? Any specific brands or mounting spots you'd recommend?
Bookmarked, thanks!
Respectfully, I'd consider another option before dropping $80+ on those custom mounts. Since the Blazer has that nice flat spot right behind the infotainment screen, I've had way better luck with a weighted friction base. It's much cheaper and doesn't leave any sticky residue on the dash!
* Garmin Universal Friction Mount - usually around $20
* Lamicall Magnetic Dash Phone Holder - about $15
I mean, I'm still learning the best setups myself, but these budget options haven't budged during my commute! FWIW, it keeps your line of sight totally clear.
I totally get the struggle! When I first got my Blazer, I went through three different mounts that just couldn't handle those round vents. Seriously frustrating! Honestly, I finally bit the bullet and got the ProClip Center Mount 855535 paired with their iPhone+Holder+with+Tilt-Swivel+711042&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">ProClip Adjustable iPhone Holder with Tilt-Swivel 711042. It clips right into the dash seams, so it's rock solid during sharp turns and doesn't block the screen at all. It's pricey, but it looks OEM and won't rattle. Best investment I've made for the interior!
Hi there! I've spent a lot of time trying to solve this exact layout puzzle in the Blazer because, honestly, those huge round vents are awesome for airflow but a total nightmare for standard mounts. If you're worried about safety and blocking your line of sight, I'd suggest looking at a different approach than the usual dash or vent clips.
From a safety-first perspective, I really like the WeatherTech CupFone with Extension (usually around $45-$50). It sits low and completely out of your windshield view, which is a huge plus if you're like me and hate any distractions while driving. Since the Blazer has conveniently placed cup holders, it stays rock solid even during sharp turns. The downside is you have to look down a bit for nav, but the stability is unmatched.
On the other hand, if you want something closer to eye level without the bulk of a custom bracket, check out the Scosche MagicMount Dash/Vent MS2-DV-SP1. It uses a really strong magnetic connection. I know you mentioned adhesive residue concerns, but these newer 3M pads are way better than the old stuff. Just mount it on the trim piece to the right of the screen—it keeps the phone accessible but doesn't block the infotainment or the vents.
Personally, I think the CupFone is the winner for long-term reliability because there's zero chance of it falling off a textured dash. It just works and keeps the cabin looking clean!
+1
In my experience with these modern Chevy interiors, the textured dash is basically kryptonite for suction cups. I've tried a ton of setups over the years and honestly, if you're okay with a 5-minute DIY, skip the plastic clips and look at the Course Motorsports Direct Fit Phone Mount for Chevrolet Blazer. It's a metal bracket that bolts into an existing factory hole behind the trim piece. Super solid and doesnt rattle at all even on rough roads. It keeps the phone right next to the screen without blocking your view of the road. If you're dead set on a simpler stick-on mount tho, my trick is to use 3M VHB Tape 5952. Most mounts come with cheap adhesive that fails on that Blazer dash texture, but the VHB stuff is basically industrial strength. Just make sure you clean the area with alcohol first or it wont stand a chance. Its what I use for all my interior mods and it never lets me down.
