I just picked up a 2023 Chevy Bolt EV and I’m absolutely loving it, but I’m realizing I need a better charging setup at home and for road trips. I’m currently just using the provided cord, but I’d like to upgrade to a faster Level 2 charger for my garage. I'm also curious if there are specific cable organizers or rugged carrying cases you all recommend for the trunk. Since the Bolt’s max DC fast charging is 55kW, are there certain adapters or accessories that make public charging less of a headache? I want to keep my budget under $600 for everything. What are the 'must-have' charging accessories that every Bolt owner should own?

Yo, congrats on the 2023 Bolt! Honestly, the best bang for your buck is the Emporia Level 2 EV Charger 48 Amp. It's usually around $400, which is a STEAL for a UL-listed smart charger. Since the Bolt peaks at 11.5kW on Level 2, this thing handles it like a champ without breaking the bank. For the trunk, I'm lowkey obsessed with the BougeRV EV Charger Cable Carrying Case—it's super rugged and keeps things from rattling around. Basically, if you grab those and a simple Wallmount EV Cable Organizer with J1772 Holster, you're still way under your $600 budget. Public charging is kinda slow anyway, so just stick to the free PlugShare app to find working stations. Peace!

Honestly, if you're looking to save some cash, I'd skip the expensive hardwired units and grab the Grizzl-E Classic Level 2 EV Charger 40 Amp. It's built like a tank and way cheaper than most fancy smart chargers. Since the Bolt's DC charging is capped at 55kW anyway, you really don't need to overspend on high-end public adapters. Just get a Lectron J1772 to Tesla Charging Adapter 48A 250V for your trunk so you can use Tesla Destination chargers at hotels—totally a lifesaver on road trips!

Curious about one thing: do you have a 240V outlet yet? I agree the Emporia is decent, but honestly, make sure ur panel can handle the load before buying anything tho.

I went through this last year. Honestly, when I first got my Bolt, I was so focused on the gadgets that I almost overlooked the most important part: the electrical safety of my house. I actually had a professional electrician come out to inspect my panel before I even unboxed my current setup, and I'm so glad I did. Turns out, my older breaker wasn't really rated for that kind of continuous heat for 8+ hours a night. I ended up getting a high-quality, UL-listed unit that stays cool to the touch, cuz honestly, fire safety is the one thing you can't cheap out on. I also learned the hard way to keep a heavy-duty carrying case in the trunk for the cable—mine got all tangled and started fraying from sliding around on the floor. It's really about being cautious and making sure everything is up to code, right? Safety first, always!

Yep, this is the way
