I’m looking to upgrade the look of my Dart and want to start with some lighting. I’ve seen some cool LED headlight assemblies and interior ambient kits online, but I’m worried about quality and fitment. Are there specific brands or styles, like smoked tail lights or LED scanners, that really suit the Dart's body lines? What do you guys recommend for a clean, modern look?
Respectfully, I'd consider another approach before buying cheap aftermarket housings. Honestly, many budget kits have terrible beam patterns that compromise safety. I've been reallyyy happy sticking to the OEM housing with a high-quality upgrade like Philips X-tremeVision Pro150 H11 bulbs instead of Spyder Auto Black Projector Headlights. For a truly modern look that's actually reliable, the Morimoto Mini H1 Stage III Retrofit is the gold standard compared to basic LED strips. Stay safe out there!
Quick question - before I dive into the deep end here, are you rocking the factory halogen housing or do you have the HID setup? Also, what's your actual budget for this project?? I've been modding Darts since 2013 and honestly, the price tag between "looks cool for a month" and "built to last" is pretty massive.
In my experience, you gotta be careful with the cheap stuff because the Dart's CANBUS system is notoriously finicky. If you're looking for value without going broke, here's what I've learned over the years:
1. For the fog lights, don't bother with cheap bulbs. I've had the best luck with Diode Dynamics H11 SL1 LED Bulbs. They have a perfect beam pattern that won't blind people but gives you that high-end white look.
2. Since the other guys mentioned the main assemblies, I'd suggest looking at the side markers. Swapping the stock orange for iJDMTOY Smoked Lens Amber Full LED Front Side Marker Lights is a literal game changer for the car's profile. It blends into the fender so much better.
3. For the interior, if you want a clean look without wires everywhere, check out the OPT7 Aura Interior Car LED Strip Light Kit. It's super reliable and the colors actually look premium, not like a cheap disco.
Basically, I've tried many different setups and the "buy once, cry once" rule definitely applies to lighting. Let me know about your housing situation and I can give you more specific technical specs! 👍
Seconding the recommendation above! Headlights are basically the soul of the Dart's front end. Sooo, I'm kinda new to the modding scene, but I've been super happy with the Spyder Auto Black Projector Headlights with LED Halo for that aggressive look.
Technically, the Dart uses a projector setup, so if you're swapping bulbs, you gotta make sure they're clocked right or the beam pattern will be wonky. Also, for the interior, I actually tried the Govee Smart Interior Car Lights with App Control and they're honestly great because you don't have to tear the whole dash apart. Works well for a clean, modern vibe without the Mopar price tag. Peace!
yo, i feel u on wanting to spice up the Dart! i've been messing with mine for a few years now and honestly, lighting is the best way to get that modern look. For your situation, I would suggest starting with the headlights cuz the stock ones are kinda weak. I've been really happy with the Spec-D Tuning Black Projector Headlights with LED DRL since they fit the body lines perfectly and dont leave huge gaps like some cheap ones do.
Here's what I recommend for a clean setup:
- Go for the Mopar Racetrack LED Tail Light Assembly if u dont have it already. It's literally the most iconic Dart look and looks sooo good at night.
- For the interior, I'm satisfied with the Govee RGBIC Interior Car Lights cuz you can hide the wires pretty easily under the trim.
- Ngl, VLEDS Micro Evolution H11 LED Bulbs are great if u just wanna upgrade your existing housing without replacing everything.
I was worried about fitment too, but these worked well for me with no complaints! gl with the build, right?
Just saw this and gotta warn you, the Dart's electrical system is a total pain with aftermarket stuff. If you don't get the right kit, you'll be dealing with flickering and dash errors constantly. Most guys skip the prep work and regret it later.
