Just got my Hornet and the dealer is trying to rob me blind on basic accessories. I need mud guards before a road trip to Seattle next Tuesday. Torn between official Mopar splash guards or some generic ones on Amazon. Mopar is like $150 but Amazon is $35... is the fitment on the cheap ones gonna be trash?

In my experience, the cheap Amazon stuff is usually trash. Over the years I've seen those generic sets turn gray and brittle after just one winter. If you want actual protection for that Seattle trip, look at RokBlokz Mud Flaps Dodge Hornet.

  • Wont crack in the cold
  • Better coverage for the rain
  • No-drill installation Theyre way sturdier than the generic ones and look a lot cleaner too.

Grab WeatherTech No-Drill Mud Flaps 110156! They use 3D laser scanning for total accuracy at half the dealer price. Essential for safety since cheap ones dont stay on. Amazing value!

Oh man, congrats on the Hornet! Such an amazing choice for a daily driver, you are gonna love it! I literally just saw this post and had to jump in because my dealer tried to do the exact same thing to me. It is honestly wild how much they mark up basic plastic bits. Definitely dont settle for the super cheap $35 generic ones though... they usually look like universal flaps that never quite sit flush and will probably drive you crazy on a long trip to Seattle. If you want something that fits like a glove without the Mopar price tag, you should definitely grab the WeatherTech No-Drill MudFlaps Dodge Hornet Custom Fit. They use the existing hardware so you dont have to drill into your brand new baby!

  • wipe down the mounting points with rubbing alcohol first so everything stays snug
  • double check your tire clearance by turning the wheel fully both ways before you finish tightening
  • i also love using Meguiars G190526 Hybrid Ceramic Wax 26oz on the flaps after installing... it makes the road grime and mud wash off so much easier! You are going to have a fantastic time on your road trip! Seattle is gorgeous this time of year but definitely messy. If you get stuck with the install or want more tips on keeping the exterior looking fresh, just let me know. I am always around to geek out over new car stuff!

Omg congrats on the ride! I learned the hard way that generic parts are a total nightmare. I bought some cheap Amazon ones and they literally flapped in the wind until I replaced them with Mopar Dodge Hornet Molded Splash Guards Front and Rear.

  • factory holes line up perfect
  • looks way cleaner
  • stays put at 80mph Seriously, dont risk the cheap ones for a long trip to Seattle!
