So I finally pulled the trigger on a new Dodge Hornet GT last month and I gotta say I am honestly so frustrated with how it looks in person now that the initial new car high has worn off. Like dont get me wrong it drives great for my commute into downtown Chicago but every time I walk out to the parking lot I feel like it just blends in with every other generic SUV out there. It lacks that Dodge muscle vibe I was expecting?
I went back to the dealership to see if they had any of those GLH parts or literally anything to make it look less like a mom-mobile but they were totally clueless and just kept trying to talk me into a ceramic coating package instead. I have about $1200 saved up for some exterior mods and I really need to do something before I get bored of looking at it. I was thinking maybe the blacked out badges or a different rear spoiler but everything I see online looks kinda cheap or like it wont fit right. Has anyone actually found good exterior styling stuff that actually looks factory? Or maybe some side splitters that dont look like theyll fall off on the highway? I just want it to look as aggressive as it feels when I hit the gas. What accessories are you guys actually using to make this thing look decent?
I totally feel you on the generic look! If you want it to look mean, you gotta start with the Direct Connection Dodge Hornet GLH Graphics and Trim Kit. Honestly, the best bang for your buck is getting the Direct Connection Dodge Hornet 1-Inch Lowering Springs installed. It fixes the stance immediately and makes it look way more aggressive. Youll love how it transforms the whole vibe!
> I just want it to look as aggressive as it feels. Try the Eibach Pro-Spacer 15mm Dodge Hornet! Widening that stance looks amazing. It's fantastic for the price and looks factory, tho!
saw this and thought id chime in. i learned the hard way with my last ride that cheap plastic wings are a nightmare. one actually started fluttering on the i-90 and i thought the hatch was gonna rip off. i ended up looking for things that use existing bolts instead of just tape. watch out for those universal splitters tho... chicago slush and salt will rot the hardware if it isnt stainless. be careful with the tape-on stuff.
Stumbled upon this discussion and honestly I am in the exact same boat with my Dodge Hornet GT. I am very satisfied with how it performs mechanically, but the exterior styling is a constant point of frustration for me as well. I have been searching for professional-grade solutions for about three months now and havent found a single thing that doesnt look like cheap plastic. > I just want it to look as aggressive as it feels. Like someone mentioned, it just blends in too much with the generic crossovers. My primary concern is finding something that doesnt compromise the safety sensors or the factory warranty. I have spent so much time looking through catalogs and everything feels like a risk to the car's long-term reliability. It is tough when you love the drive but feel like the car is invisible in the parking lot. TL;DR: I am dealing with the same issue and havent found any mods that meet my standards for safety and reliability yet.
> I feel like it just blends in with every other generic SUV out there. Ngl, i am in the exact same boat. Spent hours staring at mine in the driveway trying to figure out where the soul went. Over the years ive modified plenty of mopars and this one is a tough nut to crack styling-wise. Ive been researching two different routes to fix that stance. First is the Vicrez Dodge Hornet Front Splitter V1. Its high-grade ABS plastic which is way better for Chicago winters than cheap fiberglass that just cracks when it hits a frozen slush pile. The downside is it really needs a professional install to look flush. Then you have something like the Black Rhino Arches 18x8 Matte Black Wheels. In my experience, changing the wheel offset does more for the muscle look than any wing ever could. Stock wheels have like a +35 offset that makes the car look narrow, but these push it out just enough. Hard to decide between aero bits or rotating mass changes tho... both are pricey if you want quality stuff that wont rattle.
Lol I was literally about to post the same thing. Glad someone else brought it up.
