Hey everyone, I’m finally taking delivery of my SF90 Stradale next week and want to make sure the paint is protected from day one. I’m specifically looking for a ceramic coating that handles the high heat around the rear engine vents well, as I've heard that area gets pretty toasty on these hybrids. I’m also curious about which brands offer the best depth for the Rosso Corsa finish and how they bond with the exposed carbon fiber bits. I’ve looked into Gtechniq and Modesta, but I’m torn on which provides the best long-term gloss and ease of cleaning. For those with SF90s or similar Ferraris, which coating did you go with for the best balance of protection and shine?
Hi there, and congrats on the SF90! I've been running Ferraris for about fifteen years now, and honestly, for the Rosso Corsa depth you're looking for, I would suggest going with Modesta BC-04 Nano-Titanium Glass Coating.
In my experience, Modesta handles the heat soak around those rear vents much better than Gtechniq. I had it on my last Pista and the gloss was just insane—it actually makes the red look like it's still wet. For the carbon fiber, it bonds beautifully without any clouding. That said, I'd definitely recommend a layer of XPEL Ultimate Plus Paint Protection Film underneath the coating on the high-impact areas first. The SF90 sits so low that stones will chew up that nose. I've stayed with this setup for years because the ease of cleaning is top-tier. Hope this helps!
Seconding the recommendation above! Honestly, congrats on the SF90—it's a dream. I think you should check out CarPro CQuartz UK 3.0 50ml Kit. It's super budget-friendly but holds up amazing against heat!
Hey there! Congrats on the SF90—that’s an absolute beast of a machine.

I’ve been down this road before and, unfortunately, I had some pretty frustrating issues with standard coatings yellowing or losing their bond near the exhaust and vents on my old 488. It's super annoying when the gloss just... dies because of the heat soak.
For your situation, I would suggest looking at Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra. In my experience, its 10h hardness and chemical bonding handle those high thermal cycles much better than most. To get that deep, "dripping wet" look on the Rosso Corsa, I'd definitely layer it with Gtechniq EXOv5 Ultra Durable Hydrophobic Coating as a top coat. It makes washing a breeze and really pops on the carbon fiber.
Another heavy-hitter for heat is Ceramic Pro Strong. It’s actually their industrial-grade version designed for high-temp environments. Just make sure your detailer is authorized for it, as the application is tricky. Hope this helps!
Totally agree about the heat soak being the biggest hurdle here—SF90s basically turn into ovens back there. I’ve been doing some deep dives into the detailing market lately because I’m paranoid about my own paint, and honestly, it’s a bit of a minefield with all the marketing hype out there. A few things I’d be cautious about after doing my own market research: * Don't get too caught up in the '10H hardness' claims you see in the brand brochures; half of that is basically marketing fluff and doesn't actually stop stone chips or real thermal stress.
* Be reallyyy careful with some of the super high-solvent coatings on the exposed carbon fiber. If the installer isn't 100% sure about the resin compatibility, it can occasionally lead to a weird hazing that's a total nightmare to fix.
* The 'pro-only' boutique brands usually have better warranties, but check the fine print on 'annual maintenance' requirements—if you skip one, the whole protection plan basically goes out the window. Just my two cents after spending way too much time reading technical data sheets... better to be safe than sorry with a car this expensive!
Finally someone says it. Ive been thinking this for a while but wasnt sure.
This is exactly what I needed to hear. Youre a lifesaver honestly.
