I finally got my 812 Competizione and I am honestly terrified of messing it up but I really want to push it at COTA next month. Im torn between the Novitec lowering springs for that better center of gravity or just going with a more aggressive custom shim kit for more camber because the understeer is killing me. I have about 15k set aside for this but the timeline is super tight since the event is in three weeks.
Is the Novitec kit actually functional for track or is it just for looks? Kinda leaning toward the shims but I dont want to ruin the street drivability...
Stumbled on this tonight. TL;DR: Honestly, just get a Garmin Catalyst Driving Performance Optimizer. In my experience, most 812 understeer at COTA comes from overdriving the entry. I spent years chasing alignment specs before the 10Hz GPS data showed I was just trail braking way too deep. This is way cheaper than suspension work, stays street legal, and wont touch your warranty. its a total game changer.
Congrats on the 812, man. COTA is gonna be wild but yeah, that understeer is a real mood killer on high-speed sweepers. Tbh the Novitec Sport Spring Set for Ferrari 812 Competizione is mostly for the gram. It lowers the center of gravity a bit, but it doesnt really solve the geometry issues you're feeling.
> Is the Novitec kit actually functional for track or is it just for looks? Just found this... honestly, I've been really satisfied with Castrol SRF React Performance Brake Fluid 1 Liter at COTA. It works well to prevent fade. Works like magic. Also, grab Pagid Racing RSC1 Brake Pads for Ferrari 812 Carbon Ceramic for better bite. I have no complaints and theyre easy to swap back later.
Honestly, with that tight three-week window, you might want to be careful about doing anything too invasive to the suspension right now. I would suggest looking into Scrape Armor Bumper Skid Plate Ferrari 812 Superfast before you hit COTA. Its totally reversible and will save your front lip if you bottom out on those curbs. Also, make sure to grab a Element E50 Fire Extinguisher just in case... better safe than sorry.
