Hey everyone! I recently took delivery of my 812 GTS, and while the car is an absolute masterpiece, I can’t help but feel that the factory exhaust is a bit too muffled, especially with the GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter) being standard now. That glorious V12 scream is definitely there, but it feels like it’s being held back from its full potential. I really want to unlock that high-pitched, F1-inspired wail that Ferrari is famous for.
I’ve been doing some research, but I’m torn between a few different paths. Some owners suggest just doing a simple X-pipe and valve controller to keep things manageable, while others swear by a full Novitec or Kline Innovation setup with Inconel headers. My main goal is to improve the tone and volume without introducing a drone that ruins the cabin experience during long cruises. I’m also a bit concerned about the CEL (Check Engine Light) if I go with high-flow cats or cat-deletes, so I’d love to know how you guys handled the electronics side of things.
Cost isn't my primary concern, but I do want something that respects the engineering of the car. I’ve watched a dozen YouTube clips, but we all know those don’t always capture the true frequency or how it feels under load. Is the titanium Novitec Power Optimized system worth the premium, or does the Kline Inconel system offer a better 'musical' quality for the V12?
For those of you who have already modified your 812 GTS, what setup are you running and would you do it again? I'm looking for that perfect balance of a screaming top end and a refined idle—what is the absolute best exhaust system upgrade in your opinion?
For your situation, I’d highkey suggest going with the Kline Innovation 812 GTS Inconel Exhaust System. Honestly, I have it on mine and the sound is literally like an old-school F1 car!! The Inconel material gives it this crazy high-pitched scream that's way more musical than the stainless stuff.
Here is what I did to fix the muffled GPF sound:
- Paired the Kline with the Novitec Tectronic O2 Sensor Controller to stop any CEL issues.
- Added the Novitec Switchtronic Exhaust Flap Control so I can keep the valves closed when I'm just cruising, which basically kills all the drone.
It’s sooo good and totally transforms the GTS! Good luck dude! 👍
Seconding the recommendation above regarding the wail! Honestly, as an engineer who's spent years tinkering with high-end Italian builds, I totally agree that the Kline Innovation 812 GTS Inconel Exhaust System is the gold standard for that high-pitched scream, but I gotta add a major caution about the GPF-delete side of things.
Basically, the 812 GTS is way more sensitive than the older Superfast models. If you swap out those GPFs for straight pipes, youre not just risking a CEL; you could seriously mess with the backpressure curves that the factory ECU expects. From a safety-first perspective, I always tell people to look at the Capristo Exhaust Valve Control Box for the GTS specifically, because it lets you keep the valves 100% open without the car's computer freaking out and throwing it into limp mode.
Also, if youre worried about the CEL but want the full Novitec sound, check out the Novitec Tectronic for Ferrari 812 GTS—it's basically a plug-and-play module that clears the errors from high-flow cats. It's super reliable and keeps the car's safety parameters intact while you enjoy that *insane* top-end. Seriously, dont skip the electronics work or youll be staring at a dash light forever lol. Good luck with the build!!
Subbing for updates

Hmm, I've had a different experience with these V12s over the years, and honestly, I'd actually suggest a different approach before you drop $30k+ on a full Inconel system. Not to disagree with the previous guy because the Kline stuff sounds incredible, but as someone who's tried to balance the "F1 scream" with actual daily usability, going full-bore right away can be a massive headache (and a wallet drainer).
If you're worried about drone and that annoying CEL, why not start with the Capristo Exhaust Remote Control Kit for Ferrari 812? It lets you keep the valves open at low RPMs where the factory ECU usually forces them shut for noise regs. Pair that with a high-quality X-pipe like the Fabspeed Ferrari 812 Superfast / GTS X-Pipe Exhaust and you get a much cleaner, higher-pitched tone for like... a fraction of the cost of a full Novitec setup.
tbh, the 812 GTS is already so loud once those valves open that most people find a simple X-pipe gives them 90% of what they're looking for. If you really want to fix the GPF restriction without the CEL drama, look into the Pure Exhaust 812 GTS GPF Delete Pipes with Heat Shields. You get the volume back without having to mess with the headers or the cats, which is where the real drone issues usually start. Just my two cents from messing with these cars—sometimes less is more if you actually want to drive it on a road trip haha. good luck with the build!! 👍
Same here!
