I just got my F-150 Lightning and need to get the bed ready for work. I'm looking for a tonneau cover and a heavy-duty bed mat.

I'm specifically looking for accessories that:

  • Don't block the Pro Power outlets
  • Keep gear dry

What are your recommended bed accessories?

Congrats on the new Lightning! I went through the same search last month. For the cover, the BAK BAKFlip MX4 Hard Folding Truck Bed Cover is a beast. It seals tight against rain and you can flip it up to get to the side outlets easily. For the floor, definitely grab the Dee Zee Heavy Duty Bed Mat 3/8 Inch Rubber. Its super thick and keeps stuff from sliding around back there. Enjoy the truck!

Honestly, the Retrax RetraxPRO XR Retractable Truck Bed Cover seals better than folding lids, and the BedRug Classic Bed Liner for 5.5ft Bed offers way more cushion. Neither blocks those outlets.

Honestly I just saw this and Im in the exact same spot. Ive been hunting for a solid setup since I took delivery and its been nothing but frustration. My biggest hang-up is the safety and long-term reliability of these components near the high-voltage stuff. Im really skeptical about these covers keeping the Pro Power outlets bone dry during a heavy storm... the last thing any of us needs is a short or corrosion back there. I also havent found a heavy-duty mat that feels secure enough to stop heavy tools from shifting and potentially bashing the outlet housing. It feels like manufacturers havent quite caught up to the specific needs of the Lightning bed yet. I've spent way too much time researching this and Im still empty-handed... honestly pretty annoyed that there isnt a clear winner for a rugged work truck setup yet.

So we have gone over the folding vs retractable debate, but honestly the market right now is just a mess. It drives me crazy how companies are charging these insane premiums for accessories that feel cheaper every year. The build quality vs price ratio is totally broken right now... its such a scam seeing these companies prioritize margins over actual durability. Really makes it hard to justify the investment tbh.
