I just picked up a beautiful black Genesis G90, and I’m struggling to decide on the right tint. I want to achieve that sleek, executive look that complements the black paint, but I’m worried about going too dark and ruining the night visibility or attracting unwanted attention from law enforcement. I’m currently torn between a uniform 20% all around or doing a staggered setup with 35% on the fronts. I’m also looking at ceramic options to keep the cabin cool during the summer. For those with a black G90, what percentage did you go with to balance aesthetics and functionality, and do you have any photos to share?

Quick question—before I dive into the technical specs, what are the specific tint laws in your state? I've seen too many G90 owners get pulled over for 20% on the fronts, so I want to make sure we're keeping it legal while looking sharp!

From a technical standpoint, you're basically choosing between **Uniform 20%** vs. **Staggered 35%/20%**.

**Option A: Uniform 20%**
* **Pros:** Absolutely stunning, seamless "executive" look that blacks out the cabin perfectly.
* **Cons:** Night visibility is honestly sketchy in rain, and it's a cop magnet if your local limit is 35%.

**Option B: Staggered 35% Front / 20% Rear**
* **Pros:** Much safer for night driving and usually keeps law enforcement happy while still providing privacy for rear passengers.
* **Cons:** It can look a bit "chopped" visually because of the contrast between the front and back glass.

Since you mentioned heat, I'd definitely look beyond standard films. While Llumar was mentioned, I'm a huge fan of 3M Crystalline Series CR40 or the Xpel Prime XR Plus Nano-Ceramic Tint for the best TSER (Total Solar Energy Rejection) without needing to go pitch black. I once did a full wrap on a black sedan with Crystalline and the AC barely had to work! It's amazing stuff, seriously.

Let me know your local zip or state laws and I can give you a more precise recommendation on the VLT percentages!

TL;DR: Uniform 20% looks the best but 35/20 staggered is way safer for daily driving and avoiding tickets. Check your local laws first! Hope this helps!

In my experience, a uniform 35% Llumar IRX Ceramic Tint is the sweet spot for that executive look without the hassle of cops or poor night visibility... honestly, it's perfect. tbh.

Honestly, jumping in here because I had issues with expensive shops overcharging for the big names. If you're on a budget, check out Lexen 2-Ply Carbon Window Tint Film. It's way cheaper than ceramic but still looks sleek. I think 35% is safer for night driving, tbh. For pricing, use the quote tool on Yelp to pit local shops against each other—saved me $150 last time!

I definately agree that shop prices can get pretty insane especially for a luxury car like the G90 because they see the badge and just tack on a 'premium' tax lol. If youre handy and want to save some serious cash you could actually look into doing it yourself with a pre-cut kit... I've been looking into the MotoShield Pro Pre-Cut Ceramic Tint Kit because it's supposedly 99% IR rejection which is huge for a black car in the sun. It's a bit scary to try on a nice car but if you have a heat gun and some patience it's doable and you save like $300 and can get that 20% look without the crazy labor costs. I'm not 100% sure if the G90 rear window is easy to shrink tho since it's pretty big and curved so that might be the only tricky part of the whole process tbh. But honestly getting the ceramic stuff for a fraction of the price is a win if you don't mind a few tiny bubbles on your first try haha it definately gives you more control over the exact VLT you want without the shop upselling you on stuff you dont really need.
