I’ve been loving my new GV80, but the summer heat is already starting to take a toll on the leather interior. I really want to protect the dashboard from fading, but I'm struggling to find a sunshade that actually fits that massive windshield properly. Most of the 'universal' ones I've tried leave huge gaps around the rearview mirror or just sag after a week. I’m looking for something high-quality and sturdy—preferably a custom-fit folding style rather than the flimsy roll-up kind. Does anyone have a specific brand they recommend that fits the GV80 like a glove and handles high heat well? I'd appreciate any links or photos of how yours fits!

In my experience, you really can't go wrong with the Covercraft Custom Sunscreen UV11736SV silver. Honestly, I've tried many different brands over the years for my cars, and these guys are basically the gold standard for a custom fit. It is a solid, folding-style shade that feels super sturdy, so it won't sag like those cheap wire-hoop ones.

I was actually a bit worried about the size of the GV80 windshield too, but this one fits like a glove around the mirror. It's kinda heavy because of the triple-layer insulation, but that's exactly what you want to protect that leather dash from the crazy UV rays. It is a bit pricey (usually around $80-$100), but I guess it's worth it to keep the interior from cracking?? Plus it looks way more professional than a flimsy roll-up. Just make sure you get the specific model for the GV80 so there aren't any gaps! gl with the new ride! 👍

sooo i've been looking into this quite a bit since the gv80 has such a massive windshield area and heat soak is a real issue for that leather... honestly, while covercraft is great, there are a couple other high-end options that are technically superior for heat rejection because of their multi-layer construction. you might find this useful—i've done a technical deep dive into the thermal specs and the fitment on these is basically airtight.

check out these specific resources:

* WeatherTech Custom Fit SunShade for Genesis GV80: this one is cool because it's dual-purpose. it has a silver reflective side for summer and a black side for winter to help defrost. the foam core is super rigid so it won't sag over time like the cheap stuff.
* HeatShield The Original Windshield Sunshade for Genesis GV80: these guys specialize in aerospace-grade materials. it's technically a roll-up, but it's way stiffer than your average store-bought shade and fits the sensors behind the rearview mirror perfectly.

pro tip: look for a shade that mentions "multi-layer laminates." the cheap ones are just one layer of bubble wrap, but the AutoSport Custom Folding Sunshade uses a heavy-duty felt backing that protects your dash from scratches while it's being installed. i'd personally go with the weathertech if you want that sturdy, folding feel. just make sure you specify if you have the advanced or prestige trim since the sensor housing size can vary slightly i think? definitely worth double checking the clearance around the mirror before ordering tho!! good luck getting that cabin temp down 👍

Ugh, I feel your pain so much. I've had my GV80 for a while and that windshield is basically a magnifying glass. I used to get actually worried about the leather on the dash cracking because it gets so hot you cant even touch it after an hour in the sun. Totally get why the universal ones are a fail, they just dont have the height for our glass. I ended up going with the HeatShield The Custom Fit Sunshade Silver Series after seeing it online. It is a roll-up style which might not be your first choice, but the fitment is basically airtight around the sensors. It keeps the cabin noticeably cooler than the cheap stuff. If you really want the folding style tho, check out the AutoTech Park Custom Fit Windshield Sunshade. It is a bit more rigid and easier to throw in the back seat when you're done. Its got a nice thick core so it wont sag over time like those flimsy wire ones. Just depends if you prefer the roll or the fold.

Ok so I totally get the struggle with that massive GV80 windshield... it's like a greenhouse in there! While those high-end brands mentioned earlier are great, I honestly found a much more budget-friendly route that works just as well without dropping $100. For your situation, I would suggest the Pigenius Custom Fit Windshield Sunshade for Genesis GV80 2021-2025.

I've been using it for about six months and it's super sturdy. It’s a thick, multi-layer folding style—not that flimsy wire stuff—and usually runs around $40-$50 on Amazon. It literally fits like a glove with zero gaps around the mirror.

- Pro tip: Use your sun visors to pin it against the glass for an airtight fit.
- It keeps the leather way cooler than the generic ones I tried before.

I'm seriously happy with the value here since it handles the 100-degree heat no problem. Honestly, save the extra cash for a nice interior cleaner! 👍

Ok so I've been looking into this same exact issue cuz honestly that GV80 windshield is like a massive magnifying glass for the sun!! If you're worried about safety and long-term durability, you really gotta look at the WeatherTech Custom Fit SunShade. I know people talk about the folding ones, but the WeatherTech is highkey amazing because it's double-sided. One side is reflective for the summer heat and the other side is black to help absorb heat and defrost the windshield in the winter!

I mean, I was super worried about the dash materials getting baked, but this thing fits like a GLOVE. It's thick enough that it doesnt sag at all, which is a huge deal with that wide span. Plus, it's really sturdy so you dont have to worry about it falling down and hitting you while you're trying to park lol. It basically locks into place once you flip the sun visors down. It costs around $55-60 which is totally worth it for the peace of mind. Seriously, I love it!! It keeps the cabin way cooler and literally protects those expensive leather seats from cracking over time. Just make sure you roll it up tight so it doesnt take up too much room in the back. Hope this helps you out! 👍

Ok so I have been living with my GV80 for nearly two years now and honestly the sun is the biggest enemy. I think I remember seeing an official OEM sunshade at the dealership when I first picked mine up but I opted out because it was PRICEY. IIRC some people on the other forums said the Genesis branded one is actually made by one of the big manufacturers anyway but I am not 100 percent sure on that. My journey with interior protection has been a bit of a trial and error thing. Besides the shade, I started focusing on what happens to the leather after it gets baked all day. Even with a decent shade, that cabin still gets like a literal oven. Idk if it is just me, but I feel like using a high quality leather conditioner every few months has done more for my dash than just the shade alone. It keeps the material from getting that brittle feeling. One thing I noticed after a long summer is that the fitment around the mirror sensor housing is REALLY tricky. I remember someone telling me that if the shade touches the sensor plastic too much it can actually trap heat and cause issues with the adhesive, but again, I am not totally sure if that is just an old wives tale or a real concern. Just something to think about when you are finally tucking whatever you buy into those corners!
