I just picked up a Genesis G70 3.3T Sport, and while the stock power is impressive, I’m already itching to unlock more of that twin-turbo potential. I’ve been looking into the JB4 tuner and some high-flow intakes, but I’m curious what actually provides the best 'bang for your buck' without compromising daily drivability. I’ve heard mixed things about whether I need to regap the spark plugs or if an intercooler upgrade is necessary right away. I want to keep the car reliable but definitely want more throttle response and a bit more growl. For those who have modded your 3.3T, what performance accessories or bolt-ons made the biggest noticeable difference in your 0-60 times?
Sooo, I've been modding my G70 for about two years now, and honestly, I was super nervous about breaking something at first. I've always been a bit cautious with my daily drivers cuz I cant afford to be stranded, you know?
In my experience, you really gotta be careful with the order you do things in. Over the years, I've seen guys just slap a tune on and wonder why their car is stuttering under load.
Here's what I recommend to keep it safe but punchy:
- You 100% MUST do the spark plugs first. I learned the hard way that the stock gap is too wide for high boost. Get the HKS M45iL Super Fire Racing Spark Plugs and gap them to .022". It's literally the most important safety step.
- For the power, the JB4 Tuner for Kia Stinger / Genesis G70 3.3T is basically the gold standard. It's great because you can remove it if you're worried about warranty stuff, plus the logging helps you make sure the engine is actually happy.
- To get that growl and throttle response you want, I went with the BMS Elite Dual Performance Intake for Genesis G70 3.3T. You can hear the turbos spooling SO loud now, it's honestly addictive.
Basically, dont skip the plugs or you'll get misfires. If you stay on Map 1 or 2 on the JB4, it stays really reliable. gl! 👍
I once rushed into high-boost tunes without proper cooling and the heat soak was BRUTAL... ngl it almost ruined my daily. Quick question - what's ur actual budget? In my experience, the AEM Cold Air Intake System for around $420 is the safest way to get that growl without overspending or risking reliability like some cheap setups do. You gotta keep those IATs low if ur pushing it!!
Any updates on this?
Honestly, the best bang for your buck is definitely the Burger Motorsports JB4 Tuner for Kia Stinger / Genesis G70. It’s LITERALLY a night and day difference. For the spark plugs, you absolutely gotta regap them to .022" or grab some HKS M45il Super Fire Racing Spark Plugs to avoid blowout under boost. If ur on a budget, skip the intercooler for now unless you’re doing back-to-back pulls, but a BMS Differential Brace is highkey underrated for getting that power to the ground smoothly! gl!
Same setup here, love it
