Hey everyone! I finally pulled the trigger on a 2022 Genesis G70 3.3T Sport, and man, this car is an absolute blast right out of the box. The twin-turbo V6 has plenty of punch, but I’m already itching to unlock a bit more of its potential. I’ve been browsing a few enthusiast groups and see names like Burger Motorsports and Eibach popping up constantly, but I’m honestly a bit overwhelmed with where to start.
My goal is to improve the throttle response and sharpen the handling for weekend backroad drives without making the ride too harsh for my daily commute. I’m particularly curious about the JB4 tuner—is it really as "plug and play" as people claim, and does it play nice with the stock spark plugs? Also, are upgraded intakes worth it for the performance, or are they mostly just for the increased turbo spool sound? I’ve set aside a starting budget of around $1,500 to get things moving.
I really want to make sure I’m investing in parts that provide a tangible difference rather than just looking pretty under the hood. For those of you who have been modding this platform for a while, what would you say are the absolute best "must-have" performance accessories to prioritize first?
RaceChip GTS Black for Genesis G70 3.3T (safe) vs JB4 (aggressive). Best choice: EBC Yellowstuff Brake Pads DP42311R for safety before adding boost to your commute. be careful!
Late to the party but yo, congrats! Quick question - you doing the labor yourself? Shop fees kill the budget. • K&N Typhoon Cold Air Intake 69-2026TS ($460). Intakes are mostly sound, unfortunately.
• Whiteline Front Sway Bar 27mm ($240). Better for roll than springs imo. idk but I had issues with cheap throttle controllers... not as good as expected. They just feel jerky. Stick to the basics! gl
In my experience, if ur gonna run the Burger Motorsports JB4 Tuner for Genesis G70, you basically HAVE to swap to gapped HKS M45iL Super Fire Racing Spark Plugs first. i learned the hard way that skipping them leads to nasty misfires under load... so dont risk it. Eibach Pro-Kit Lowering Springs help the handling a lot tho! stay safe and check ur warranty first...
Here's what I recommend: if you wanna improve response without risking the warranty, maybe look at a Roar Pedal Throttle Response Controller. It's super easy to install and realy helps that lag. For handling, the Ultra Racing Front Strut Tower Bar is a great value pick to stiffen the front end without making the ride bumpy. Honestly, keeping things simple is usually safer for a daily, right? peace
@Reply #4 - good point! Brakes are often the last thing people think about until they really need them. If you are comparing the JB4 to other options, look into a Lozic ECU Tune for Genesis G70 3.3T. While piggybacks like JB4 are popular because they are removable, a full ECU flash feels way more linear and refined for a daily driver. It actually manages the engine parameters instead of just tricking sensors. Quick tip... dont forget about the transmission. Getting a Tork Motorsports TCU Tune makes those gear changes way faster and less slushy during spirited drives. It basically wakes the whole car up more than just adding boost alone would. If you want better handling without the harshness, the Mando ECS Suspension Controller is a solid pick to adjust your stock dampers on the fly and is super easy to install.
