I am honestly getting so annoyed with all the conflicting info on the forums and Facebook groups about this car. I bought my 2022 G70 3.3T Sport about six months ago and while it is quick i really want to unlock what this engine can actually do but every time I think I have a plan I read something that makes me second guess everything. So my logic was to just start with a JB4 tuner because everyone and their mom says its the gold standard for easy power but then I go down the rabbit hole and see people saying if you dont change the spark plugs to some specific HKS ones and gap them perfectly you are gonna get misfires and ruin the engine and honestly I dont have the tools or the patience to be gapping plugs every weekend.
Then I looked into the Lozic or EK1 stuff for a proper ECU flash because it sounds more stable than a piggyback but then people are saying it voids the warranty immediately and I still have 4 years left on mine so thats a huge risk for me. I am in Orlando so the heat here is absolutely brutal and I feel the car pulling timing after like two pulls so I know I need cooling upgrades. I was looking at those Velossa Tech snorkels but then I read a post saying they are basically just plastic decorations and dont actually lower intake temps enough to matter and that I should just drop 1k on a massive intercooler instead.
My budget is right around 2500 for the first round of mods and I want to have this all sorted by October before I head up to the mountains for a road trip. Should I just get the intercooler and a mild piggyback or is there a better way to get that punchy feel without making the car unreliable? I just want to be able to gap a stock 340i without worrying about my engine exploding or getting heat soaked after five minutes of driving... it is just frustrating trying to figure out what actually works versus what is just hype.
tbh I went the safe route and Im super happy with it. You definitely want the Mishimoto Performance Intercooler Kit for Genesis G70 3.3T first since you're in Orlando, it makes a massive difference with the heat soak. I paired mine with the Burger Motorsports JB4 Tuner for Kia/Genesis 3.3T and its been rock solid. Car feels way more punchy without feeling like its gonna break... no complaints at all.
Building on the earlier suggestion, grab a Mishimoto Compact Baffled Oil Catch Can for cheap insurance. It keeps valves clean and helps the engine handle that extra power safely.
Building on the earlier suggestion, unfortunately those snorkels underperform in Orlando heat. I found the K&N Typhoon Cold Air Intake 69-2025TS more consistent than the AEM Cold Air Intake System 21-857C.
I wasted way too much cash on aesthetic parts that did zero for the Florida humidity. My biggest regret was skipping the boring maintenance stuff.
