Best off-road accessories for the new GMC Canyon AT4X?

Hey everyone! I just took delivery of my new GMC Canyon AT4X and I'm absolutely loving the power and that factory lift. I’m planning a few desert runs and some technical trail rides soon, and I want to make sure I’m fully prepped before heading out. I'm specifically looking for advice on high-quality rock sliders that won't sacrifice too much ground clearance and a winch setup that integrates well with the front bumper sensors. I’ve also been looking at different bed racks for recovery gear storage. Since this model is still relatively new, I’m curious what brands you guys are trusting for fitment. What are the absolute 'must-have' off-road accessories you’d recommend for a new AT4X owner?

Hey! Congrats on the AT4X. Technical-wise, these trucks are AMAZING but the sensor suite is definitely the "final boss" when it comes to mods. If you mess with the front fascia too much, you’ll trigger the AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking) or the adaptive cruise sensors at the worst times, which is a HUGE safety risk on the trail. For your situation, here's what I recommend from a safety-first engineering perspective: - AEV Winch Mount Kit for 2023+ GMC Canyon: This is basically the gold standard for GM trucks. It’s specifically engineered to work with the factory chassis and keeps the winch tucked behind the bumper so your park sensors and radar dont go haywire. I suggest pairing it with a Warn Zeon 10-S Platinum Winch for total reliability when you're solo.
- White Knuckle Off Road Rock Sliders: In my experience, these are the best for actual technical rock crawling. They’re heavy-duty frame-mounted units (essential for safety!!) and use DOM tubing which won't fold like cheaper HREW stuff. They sit super tight to the body so you actually keep that factory clearance.
- CBI Offroad GMC Canyon Bed Rack: If you're doing desert runs, you need a rack that can handle the "G-outs" and high-speed vibrations. This rack is solid and handles the weight of recovery boards and fuel cans way better than the generic modular kits. Basically, dont cheap out on the mounts. If a slider fails, it crushes your rocker panel. If a winch mount is poorly designed, it blocks airflow to the transmission cooler... and that's a bad day for everyone. Good luck with the build! 👍

Respectfully, I'd consider another approach. Heavy full bumpers can really mess with ur center of gravity, which is a killer for desert runs. Keeping it light is key!! I've found Victory 4x4 Strike Rock Sliders offer the best clearance-to-cost ratio tbh. For the winch, a Rough Country Hidden Winch Mount with a Warn VR EVO 10-S Winch is a solid budget move. TL;DR: Stick to value-driven bolt-ons to keep the truck light lol.

I remember when I first started modding my truck i thought spending the most money meant the best parts but thats not always the case. I've been comparing the CBI Offroad GMC Canyon Rock Sliders against some of the lighter bolt-on options and the CBI ones just feel so much more solid for technical trails. You might want to consider the Smittybilt X2O Gen3 12K Winch instead of the super pricey Warn units everyone talks about. Smittybilt is way more affordable and hasnt let me down yet, which is nice when youre trying to save cash for other gear. Just make sure to be careful with the RealTruck GoRhino XRS Overland Bed Rack if you're doing desert runs. My buddy put one on and his truck felt super top-heavy and tipsy in the sand. I would suggest sticking to a mid-height rack if you can find one. I learned that the hard way after a really scary moment on a dune last year where I thought I was gonna roll it... basically keep the heavy stuff as low as you can.

Yo, congrats on the AT4X! I mean, that factory lift is seriously impressive right out of the gate. Over the years, I've learned that the biggest headache with these new tech-heavy trucks is the sensor suite. If you block the front radar or park sensors with a bulky bumper, the truck literally throws a fit. In my experience, for the winch, you should definitely check out the 589 Fabrication Hidden Winch Mount. It basically stays tucked behind the factory fascia so it doesnt mess with the sensors or airflow. For sliders, you want frame-mounted protection that doesnt kill your breakover angle. CBI Offroad GMC Canyon Rock Sliders are great cuz they tuck up tight and wont snag on rocks. Also, for the bed rack, I'm a huge fan of the Leitner Designs Active Cargo System Classic. It's perfect for recovery gear storage. Just double check the model year fitment tho, cuz the new bed is a bit wierd compared to the old ones. tbh it's a game changer for desert runs... gl! 👍

I'd actually suggest a different approach - I totally agree the sensors are a nightmare, but honestly: - Full replacement bumpers are SAFER. I've seen hidden mounts block airflow to ur intercooler during desert runs... not good.
- Frame-mounted sliders are basically mandatory. I'm super happy with how my current ones have held up on technical trails. Seriously, don't sacrifice cooling just to keep that stock look!! gl
