I’ve been driving my GMC Terrain for a few months now, and while I absolutely love the cargo space, I’m struggling to keep everything from sliding around back there. Every time I take a turn, I hear my groceries, gym bag, and emergency kit shifting from side to side, which is getting pretty annoying!
I’m looking for something that fits the dimensions of the Terrain specifically, rather than a generic one-size-fits-all bin that leaves weird gaps. I’ve looked at the official GMC accessories, like the collapsible cargo organizer, but they are a bit pricey. Does anyone have experience with those, or perhaps a high-quality third-party brand like WeatherTech or a specific trunk net that works well with the existing tie-down points?
My main priorities are durability and having a non-slip bottom so the organizer itself stays put on the carpet. I’d also love something that can be easily folded down when I need to haul larger items with the seats flat. For those of you who have managed to tame the trunk clutter, what specific cargo organizers or systems would you recommend for the GMC Terrain?
Hey, I totally feel u on the grocery sliding! I've been driving GMCs for years and had the same issue with my Terrain. Honestly, the official ones are overpriced. I saved some cash and got the Drive Auto Products Car Trunk Organizer for about $25. It basically fits perfectly and has a non-slip bottom so it stays put. Plus, it folds flat when you gotta haul bigger stuff. Totally worth it for the price! 👍
Similar situation here - I went through this exact same headache last year with my Terrain. Honestly, I spent way too much time obsessing over the official GMC gear, but the prices are just wild. I mean, $100+ for a collapsible bin?? No thanks.
I ended up going the budget route and experimented with a few cheaper setups. First, I tried a basic trunk net I found on clearance, but it was kinda flimsy. Eventually, I landed on a combo that actually works for way less cash:
* I grabbed the Fortem Car Trunk Organizer for about $30. It's got those non-slip pads on the bottom that actually stick to the Terrain's carpet.
* Added a generic Envelope Style Trunk Cargo Net for GMC Terrain off eBay for like $15 to catch the smaller grocery bags.
Everything stays put now and I saved like $60. Just make sure to check if you have the side hooks already installed... I almost bought extras before realizing they were already there lol. Anyway, just sharing what worked for me without breaking the bank. gl!
Seconding the recommendation above! Honestly, safety is the biggest reason I finally got my trunk sorted. I've been driving SUVs for over a decade and once had a heavy tool kit fly forward during a sudden stop—actually terrified me. So yeah, my current setup uses a heavy-duty bin with built-in tie-down straps because I wont trust just velcro anymore. It's sooo much better knowing stuff wont become a projectile if I gotta hit the brakes hard! gl!
This is exactly what I needed to hear. Youre a lifesaver honestly.
Just found this thread! Honestly, I’ve had issues with the official ones—they're overpriced and the velcro is weak. Check out the fitment diagrams on the WeatherTech site for better specs. Quick question tho: do u have the factory carpet or a rubber liner back there?? It *really* changes which non-slip bottoms actually work. ngl, generic stuff usually fails on GMC’s specific pile.
