Hey everyone! I’m beyond excited to finally have the GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 sitting in my driveway. It’s an absolute beast of a truck, but I’ve quickly realized that protecting the gear in the bed is going to be a priority. Since this model features the unique MultiPro Midgate and that specific 5-foot-11-inch bed configuration, I’m a bit confused about which aftermarket covers are actually compatible right now.

I’ve been looking at some hard folding options like the BAKFlip series, but I’m worried about how they might interfere with the Midgate operation or the glass storage. I also checked out some retractable covers, but I don't want to lose too much of that precious bed space to a large canister. Given the Edition 1’s premium trim, I definitely want something that looks sleek and high-end, not just a cheap vinyl flap. Has anyone found a specific brand or model that fits the unique dimensions of the Sierra EV perfectly without blocking the cameras? I'm hoping to keep the budget under $1,500 if possible. Does anyone have a recommendation for a tonneau cover that works seamlessly with the Midgate and the MultiPro Tailgate?

For your situation, I would suggest looking at the TruXedo Lo Pro Soft Roll-Up Truck Bed Tonneau Cover if you want to keep things simple, but since you mentioned wanting a high-end look while staying under that $1,500 mark, I honestly think your best bet is the Gator ETX Soft Tri-Fold Truck Bed Tonneau Cover or something similar from their lineup. I know, I know, you said you didn't want a "cheap vinyl flap," but hear me out—the newer high-end soft folds actually look super slick and they're WAY more forgiving with the Midgate setup on the Sierra EV than the heavy hard-shell stuff.

I mean, basically the issue with the BAKFlip MX4 Hard Folding Truck Bed Tonneau Cover (which I think someone else mentioned) is that when it's folded all the way up against the cab, it might totally block that rear glass view or mess with the Midgate sensors if the rails aren't aligned perfectly. I've seen some guys on the Silverado EV forums—which is basically the same bed—struggle with the rail clearance.

If you really want that "premium" vibe without breaking the bank, maybe check out the RealTruck Retrax One MX Manual Retractable Truck Bed Tonneau Cover. It's a bit of a stretch for the $1,500 budget and yeah, you lose a little space to the canister, but it's lowkey the most "EV-looking" cover out there. Just make sure to double-check the 5'11" bed dimensions because the Edition 1 is so new that some sites still list the standard Sierra 1500 parts which WILL NOT fit. Be careful with the camera placement too!! Anyway, gl with the new beast, totally jealous of that Midgate haha. 👍

For your situation, I've been looking into the technical side of the Edition 1 bed since it's basically a clone of the Silverado EV setup. Honestly, the Midgate is the real kicker here because most standard rails will block it or just look janky. If you want to keep that high-end look without breaking the bank, I'd check out the TruXedo Lo Pro Soft Roll Up Truck Bed Tonneau Cover. It's way under your $1,500 budget—usually around $550—and since it sits on top of the rails, it doesn't mess with the Midgate glass or the storage as much as a bulky canister would.

Another solid option if you can stretch the budget slightly is the Lomax Hard Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover. It's super low profile, looks incredibly sleek on a premium trim, and it's easy to pop off entirely if you need to use the full pass-through for long gear. Plus, it shouldn't block the cameras since it folds flat. It's a bit of a balancing act between security and bed space, but those two seem to be the most compatible right now for that 5'11" bed. GL with the new beast! 👍

ngl, finding a cover for the Edition 1 is a total headache right now cuz of that Midgate. I tried the BAKFlip G2 Hard Folding Truck Bed Tonneau Cover on mine and honestly? It was a disaster. It blocked the rear view camera and the seals felt super flimsy for a $1,000+ cover.

I ended up swapping it for the REV Hard Folding Tonneau Cover through the GMC accessories catalog. It’s basically the only one that actually fits the 5'11" bed perfectly without messing with the glass storage or the Midgate seal. It’s around $1,200 but totally worth it to keep the premium look. gl! 👍
