Just picked up a 2025 Honda CR-V and I’m looking for dash cam recommendations that fit cleanly and don’t look like a messy aftermarket add-on. Ideally I’d like front + rear coverage, good night footage, and something that won’t drain the battery when the car’s parked (parking mode would be nice, but I’m nervous about wiring it wrong). I’m also trying to avoid anything that blocks the sensors/camera near the rearview mirror. Budget is around $250–$350. What dash cams have you used in a 2025 CR-V, and what mounting/wiring setup worked best?

Story time: I put a 2-channel cam in my wife’s newer Honda (similar mirror sensor pod setup) and yeah… first attempt looked like a spaghetti aftermarket mess lol. What finally worked was hiding the front unit tucked up on the passenger side of the mirror area so it didn’t trip any lane/auto-highbeam stuff, then running the rear cable through the headliner down the hatch grommet (that part was the only “ugh” step).

For parking mode, I chickened out on hardwiring at first and used the car’s switched power so it just shuts off when you park — no battery anxiety. Later I paid a local stereo shop to hardwire it clean.

Lesson learned: spend more time on placement/cable routing than on the cam itself… seriously. gl!

TL;DR from this thread: folks are split between a proper 2CH cam + clean hardwire (with cutoff) vs keeping it super tiny/stealth and skipping hardwire altogether. Safety-first tip from years of messing with these: whichever cam you pick, mount it *outside* the mirror sensor pod and run a fuse-tap with a voltage cutoff, or just go Thinkware U3000 2-Channel Dash Cam (4K Front + 2K Rear) since its parking mode + battery protection is pretty idiot-proof imo... gl!

For your situation, I’d go VIOFO A229 Plus 2CH Dash Cam (front 2K + rear 2K) (~$280–$330) + VIOFO HK4 ACC Hardwire Kit with Low Voltage Cut-Off so it wont kill ur battery in parking mode; I mounted it just below the mirror housing (not in the sensor box).

Same boat, watching this

Not to disagree, but I’d skip parking mode wiring tbh—go Garmin Dash Cam Mini 3 front + Garmin Dash Cam Mini 3 rear (clean, tiny, no sensor blocking). • Add Anker PowerCore 10000 10000mAh Portable Charger if you want parked coverage. gl!

Wow ok that changes things. Gonna have to rethink my approach now.
