My stock HIDs on my G35 are starting to look really dim and yellow. I’m looking to upgrade to a crisp, white LED setup, but I’m worried about fitment issues inside the tight housing. Has anyone found a reliable plug-and-play brand that doesn't cause flickering or require major modifications to the dust caps?

Hi there, I totally get where you're coming from. Those stock HIDs on the G35 can definitely get that tired, yellow look over time. Honestly, I've been there and experimented with a few setups because I'm always a bit cautious about messing with the OEM housing or heat issues.

In my experience, you have to be really careful with fitment since the G35 housing is notoriously tight. I've found that Morimoto 2Stroke 3.0 LED Bulbs are a solid, professional-grade option. They're designed to mimic the filament position of the original bulbs, which helps maintain a proper beam pattern without blinding everyone on the road.

For your situation, here are my quick tips:
* Stick with bulbs that have a compact heat sink or a flexible copper cooling belt to ensure the dust caps actually close.
* Look for "CANBUS-ready" models to avoid the flickering or dashboard errors that sometimes pop up with cheaper kits.

That said, since you currently have HIDs, it's worth noting that switching to LED requires a specific D2S LED conversion kit rather than a standard bulb. I used the GTR Lighting Ultra 2.0 D2S LED Bulbs and they were pretty much plug-and-play. However, I always suggest a quick professional consultation if you aren't comfortable with the wiring, just to be safe. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have more questions about teh installation process...

+1 to what was said earlier! Honestly, those stock HID ballasts are the REAL bottleneck. If you want that crisp white look without the flickering, I've had AMAZING results with the Morimoto 2Stroke 3.0 LED Bulbs. They’re super compact, so they actually fit behind the dust caps without any hacking!

Quick tip:
* Check your ballast health first; if they're dying, even LEDs won't save the output.
* Look for "fanless" or internal fan designs to avoid fitment headaches.

Love how they look on my G35! Good luck!

Seconding the recommendation above! Honestly, Morimoto 2Stroke 3.0 LED Bulbs are the gold standard for G35 housing clearance. Quick tip: when looking for value, check the lumen-to-watt efficiency. Many cheap kits claim 10k lumens but thermal throttle fast.

* Look for 6063 aviation aluminum heat sinks.
* Ensure they have a 360-degree adjustable beam pattern to avoid blinding others.

I've found GTR Lighting Ultra 2.0 D2S LED Bulbs offer the best beam precision for the price point, keeping that OEM cutoff line sharp! 🏎️
