Hey everyone! I finally pulled the trigger on a new Jeep Gladiator Mojave, and I'm absolutely loving the factory setup so far. Those Fox internal bypass shocks are incredible on high-speed washboard roads, but I'm ready to start personalizing it for more serious off-road adventures.
My main goal is to enhance its capability without ruining the specific 'Desert Rated' suspension tuning that makes the Mojave special. I’m currently torn between jumping straight to 37-inch tires or sticking with 35s to avoid needing an immediate re-gear. Also, since the Mojave has that unique hood and front-end height, I’m looking for bumper and winch recommendations that won't cause the front to sag or block too much airflow. I do a mix of fast desert runs and some technical trail work, so I'm also looking for high-clearance rock sliders that can actually take a hit.
I’ve spent way too many hours browsing forums, but I want to hear from people who have actually lived with their builds. For those of you with Mojave experience, what were your 'must-have' first mods that truly complemented the factory performance? What are the best off-road accessories you’d recommend to keep this build balanced and trail-ready?
yo, congrats on the Mojave! honestly, its such a sick truck but you gotta be careful with adding weight. basically, those fox bypass shocks are tuned for a specific weight, so if you go too heavy, you'll ruin that desert-rated magic. the internal bypass system relies on that factory ride height to hit the right zones, so excessive weight really messes with the damping... In my experience, i would suggest sticking with 35s first. jumping to 37s usually means you need to re-gear to 4.88 or 5.13, and if you dont, ur transmission is gonna hunt for gears like crazy. honestly, i think BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 315/70R17 tires are the sweet spot for the Mojave. for the front, look at the Warn Zeon 10-S Winch cuz it's fairly light. but seriously, keep an eye on the front-end sag!! for sliders, i reallyyy like the Rock Hard 4x4 Patriot Series Steel Tube Rock Sliders. they can take a hit, but maybe check with a pro about ur total weight budget first. TL;DR: stick to 35s to avoid immediate re-gearing and keep the build light to save your shock performance! peace
Be careful with heavy steel bumpers cuz they'll definitely sag ur front end. Quick question - what's ur total budget? 37s and re-gearing add like $2k.
Just saw this and had to jump in. If you want to keep the Mojave feeling snappy, weight is your biggest enemy. For the front end, check out the LOD Offroad Destroyer Series Aluminum Shorty Front Bumper. Since its aluminum, it wont tank your front end height like a heavy steel bumper would. Pair it with a Warn VR EVO 10-S Winch which is way lighter than the steel cable versions and a bit easier on the wallet than the Zeon series. As for tires, honestly stick with 35s unless you really have the budget to re-gear immediately. Falken Wildpeak A/T3W 35x12.50R17 are great because they arent as heavy as some of the extreme mud terrains, so they dont kill your acceleration as much. If you go 37s like the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 37x12.50R17, youre gonna feel that unsprung weight every time you hit the gas or try to slow down. For sliders, the White Knuckle Off Road Rock Sliders are basically bulletproof if youre doing technical stuff, though theyre steel. Just remember, every pound counts if youre trying to keep that desert-tuned feel... but those things can take a serious beating.
