I've had my 23 Mojave for about six months now and while the Fox internal bypass stuff is incredible for the desert it feels like it's dragging its feet on the pavement. I already swapped to 35 inch tires and now the shifting is all over the place. I spent all last night reading about re-gearing vs just getting a tuner and its honestly a headache. Some guys on the gladiator forums say 4.88 gears are the only way to go but then I read that it might make the high-speed desert runs feel too buzzy or high-revving which is exactly why I bought the Mojave over a Rubicon.

Here is what im looking at:

  • Budget: About $4,000 to start with
  • Location: Mostly Arizona desert and sandy washes
  • Needs: Better throttle response and more mid-range torque for passing on the highway

I also looked into the Magnuson supercharger but thats way out of budget for now. I saw some talk about the Banks Derringer tuner and the PedalMonster combo but does that actually provide real gains or is it just tricking the pedal? I really dont want to void my powertrain warranty if I can help it since it's basically new. Any of you Mojave owners found a sweet spot for performance that doesnt ruin the factory high-speed ride quality?...

I am satisfied with this combo:

Just saw this while scrolling this morning. 35s on the stock 4.10 gears can definitely make the Mojave feel like a bit of a dog, especially when the AZ heat kicks in. Quick question tho, which specific 35s did you put on? Some of those heavy mud terrains weigh way more than others and that rotational mass really kills your mid-range. If you havent done it yet, you absolutely need to calibrate the speedo because the transmission shift logic is all messed up right now. Honestly, id start with a Z Automotive Tazer JL Mini Programmer to fix the tire size first. For a bit more grunt without risking the warranty, maybe look at a S&B Filters Cold Air Intake for Jeep Gladiator JT 3.6L and a Borla S-Type Cat-Back Exhaust System for Jeep Gladiator. It helps it breathe better in the sandy washes and stays way under your budget. Plus, it wont make the highway drive as buzzy as 4.88 gears would.
