Hey everyone! I finally pulled the trigger on a new Jeep Gladiator Mojave, and I’m absolutely stoked to get it out into the dunes. While the Fox shocks and that desert-rated suspension are incredible right off the lot, I’ve quickly realized my bed is looking a bit bare and disorganized. I want to add some serious utility without ruining the high-speed performance or the unique look of the Mojave trim.
I’ve been looking into a few options, but I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by the choices. Specifically, I’m curious about tonneau covers that play well with the factory trail rail system—I really don’t want to lose that tie-down functionality. Also, since I plan on doing some light overlanding, I’ve been debating between a low-profile bed rack or just some heavy-duty storage bins. My main concern is keeping the weight balanced so I don't compromise that high-speed handling we all love. Does anyone have experience with specific bed liners or mats that actually stay put when things get really bumpy off-road?
I’m really looking for gear that’s as rugged as the truck itself. For those of you who have been running a Mojave for a while, what are the top-rated bed accessories you’d recommend that are actually worth the investment?
For your situation, i honestly think keeping it simple is the way to go so you dont mess up that desert-rated tuning. I was super worried about the weight affecting my high-speed handling too!! In my experience, the Bak Industries BAKFlip MX4 Tonneau Cover works well with the factory trail rails... it basically just clamps on and you dont lose any of those tie-down points. For the bed itself, I went with the Dee Zee Heavy Duty Bed Mat cuz its super thick and heavy. Seriously, it hasnt budged even when im hitting bumps kinda fast. I would suggest staying away from heavy racks at first? Just my two cents as a beginner, but I use a couple of Plano Sportsman Trunk 108 Quart bins strapped down. Its a safer bet for weight distribution than a big steel rack. Plus, keeping the center of gravity low is better for safety if you're actually doing high-speed stuff. Have you checked your payload limits yet?? It fills up faster than you'd think lol. Anyway, gl with the build!
yo, congrats on the Mojave! honestly, keeping that center of gravity low is KEY for desert runs. For a setup that won't mess with your handling: * Line-X Spray-On Bedliner - way more secure than a mat for high-speed vibes.
* BuiltRight Industries Bed Side Rack Systems - mounts gear to the walls to keep weight balanced.
* RetraxPRO XR Retractable Truck Bed Cover - works great with factory rails. just be careful adding too much weight up high!
yo, congrats on the Mojave!! Honestly, I’m a huge nerd for that Fox internal bypass tech, so here’s a major WARNING: Avoid heavy steel bed racks at all costs. Adding 150+ lbs high up literally kills your desert-rated tuning and messes with your rebound rates. I’ve seen guys dump way too much money into a build only to have the rear end buck like a mule in the dunes... NOT what you want. For a practical, budget-friendly setup: * **Aluminum T-Slot Rails**: Go with aluminum over steel. It’s way lighter and keeps the center of gravity low-key so you dont lose that high-speed stability.
* **Industrial Storage Bins**: Seriously, skip the $500 "overland" cases. Grab some heavy-duty bins from a hardware store and use the factory trail rails to strap 'em down. It's basically the same utility for a fraction of the cost.
* **Spray-on Liners**: I mean, mats are okay, but sand gets trapped under them and acts like sandpaper on your paint when ur vibrating at high speeds. Basically, keep it light and you’ll love it. gl! 👍
Honestly, I have been dealing with this exact same headache for months now and I am still no closer to a solution. I bought my Mojave specifically for that desert-rated performance, but the bed is a total disaster area right now because I am terrified of ruining the balance. @Reply #3 - good point! That warning about the rear end bucking is what keeps me from pulling the trigger on anything I have seen so far. I am so satisfied with how this truck handles stock, and I dont want to mess that up with the wrong gear.
