My Renegade’s battery has been a bit finicky lately, especially in the cold, and I don’t want to get stranded. I’m looking for a compact jump starter that fits easily in the glovebox or side door pocket. Does anyone have a specific brand or mAh capacity they recommend for the 2.4L engine? What’s the most reliable option under $100?

For your situation, I’d seriously look at the Gooloo GP4000 4000A Peak Jump Starter. I’ve tried many over the years, and this one is a beast for the price. It handles my 2.4L easily, even when it's freezing out. Honestly, the 26800mAh capacity is overkill but great for peace of mind. It’s usually under $100 on sale and fits right in the door pocket. Way better value than the big name brands IMO!

@Reply #2 - good point! While those massive peak amp numbers look great on paper, ive found that internal component quality and thermal protection matter more for long-term reliability in a Renegade. Honestly, ive been very satisfied with these two after looking at the actual teardown data and discharge curves.
The build quality here is superior to most budget units. It stays charged for months in my glovebox without significant drain. The digital display actually gives you useful info, and it handles the 2.4L engine easily even when it is freezing. No complaints about the 65W fast recharging either, which is a lifesaver.
This is a great alternative if you want to stay well under $100. Im happy with the NTC protection which keeps the lithium cells stable during high-current discharge. Its compact enough for the side door pocket but feels way sturdier than the generic units often found on sale. Basically, high peak amps dont mean much if the internal resistance is high or the clamps are flimsy. These two have better thermal management for reliable starts in the winter... which is what actually matters when youre stuck in the cold.
