I recently picked up a new Kia Sorento, and after a few rainy days, I’m already seeing a lot of road grime and debris kicking up onto the side panels. I really want to keep the paint looking fresh, so I’m looking for some solid mud guard recommendations. I’ve seen the OEM ones from the dealership, but I’m wondering if they are actually large enough to be effective or if I should go with an aftermarket brand like WeatherTech or Husky Liners for better coverage. I'm looking for something that’s easy to install without drilling into the wheel well if possible. For those of you who have installed them, which brand provides the best fit and protection for the Sorento's body style?

Hey! Congrats on the new Sorento. I totally get that frustration—honestly, I was in the exact same boat when I brought mine home and saw all that gunk after the first storm. It really hurts to see a brand new car looking messy so fast!

I’m still pretty new to doing my own car stuff, so I was super nervous about drilling into the wheel wells. I actually tried the Kia Sorento OEM Splash Guards first because I thought they’d be the safest bet. But, FWIW, they felt a bit small and didn't seem to block much of the spray on the highway.

So, after some digging, I swapped them for the WeatherTech MudFlaps for Kia Sorento. Seriously, it was a game changer for me! They use this "QuickTurn" system, so I didn't have to drill anything at all—which was a huge relief for my anxiety levels lol. They're definitely wider than the factory ones and catch way more debris.

But be careful when installing; make sure to clean the area really well before you bolt them on so no grit gets trapped behind the flap. Anyway, back to your question, if you want maximum protection without the stress of drilling, the WeatherTechs are my top pick. Hope this helps! Let me know if you need more info.

Quick question—is your commute mostly gravel or pavement? I’ve unfortunately seen "easy-fit" guards trap grit and ruin finishes over time, so I want to recommend something that actually saves you money. 🚗

In my experience, the OEM ones look sleek but are way too small for real protection. Check out WeatherTech MudFlaps 110112-120112 or Husky Liners Custom Molded Mud Guards 58511; they offer much better coverage without any drilling required!

Late to the party but I wanted to chime in because I've had a bit of a nightmare with this on my own Sorento. Honestly, I'd be really careful with the 'no-drill' clip-on styles. I tried a generic set and they vibrated just enough to rub the paint raw right down to the metal—totally defeated the purpose of 'protecting' the car!

In my experience, if you want real coverage without the tiny OEM footprint, WeatherTech MudFlaps 110112-120112 are usually the go-to, but I actually found the Rally Armor MF64-UR-BLK/RD Polyurethane Mud Flaps to be way better for safety and reliability. They’re flexible, so if you hit a speed bump or some deep slush, they won't snap or rip your fender liner out like the rigid plastic ones can. They're a bit more of a 'tuner' look, but for sheer paint protection and long-term durability, they're the best I've used. Good luck with the new ride!
