I just picked up my new Lexus IS and I’m loving it, but the trunk space is a bit tight and everything slides around during corners. I need something high-quality that fits the dimensions well without looking cheap. Does anyone have a recommendation for a sturdy organizer that stays secure on the carpet?

Oh man, congrats on the new IS! Seriously, those cars are amazing but yeah, the trunk space is lowkey a struggle since it's so narrow. Been thinking about your question and tbh, you've gotta check out some of the enthusiast forums for technical specs. There's a great resource at ClubLexus—just search their IS third-gen subforum for "trunk dimensions" and you'll find crazy detailed threads where people measure every inch of the cargo area.

Pro tip: look into anything from Fortem or TrunkStuff. You basically can't go wrong with their heavy-duty lines! They use high-density polyester and literal sub-floor grippers that stick to the Lexus carpet like glue, so no sliding during those sharp corners. Honestly, I mean, if you want that high-end look without the dealership markup, just get any collapsible organizer from a pro-grade brand. It's way more cost-effective and the build quality is actually better imo. Good luck with the new ride!! 👍

Curious about one thing: are you planning on hauling heavy gear or is it just for groceries? Before I suggest anything, honestly, the BIGGEST mistake people make is ignoring weight distribution and load security. In a tight trunk like the IS, if you have a 20lb organizer sliding around during a sharp turn, it actually shifts your center of gravity and can be a lowkey safety hazard if you gotta swerve.

Also, a major warning: watch out for those cheap "universal" bins with the super aggressive plastic teeth. I had issues with a previous setup where the velcro literally chewed up the high-pile Lexus carpet after just a few months. It looked so bad... reallyyy disappointing since the interior is usually so mint. Are you looking for something that stays permanently bolted to the tie-downs, or do you need to be able to pull it out quickly? Lmk because the mounting style makes a massive difference for stability and keeping ur carpet safe!!

For your situation, I've tried a few things in my IS and honestly it's kinda tricky cuz the trunk isn't exactly huge. Basically, you've gotta choose between the stuff from the Lexus dealership or just getting something generic from a brand like WeatherTech. I started with the official Lexus cargo net but ngl it was a total letdown for me... it just didn't hold enough and felt kinda flimsy for the price.

Then I tried the generic bins from Drive Auto, and while they're way cheaper, they actually stayed put better on the carpet thanks to those velcro strips. I think the generic brands are lowkey better value than the overpriced luxury ones, but unfortunately, they dont always look as "premium" in a nice car. If I were you, I'd just get any collapsible organizer from Fortem or Starling's... they're sturdy enough and won't break the bank like the OEM stuff does. gl!!

I was just looking at this! Honestly, the IS is amazing but that trunk is a total puzzle. I spent a whole Saturday trying to DIY a divider out of cargo foam and it looked so janky... Basically a disaster. I ended up just getting a solid organizer and modifying it to fit the narrow space. It's way better than any of the OEM stuff. Love the clean look now.

  • Use a Fortem Car Trunk Organizer with Lid Heavy Duty and center it.
  • Tip: Stick extra industrial velcro strips to the bottom so it grabs the carpet better.
  • Tip: Loop the side straps through the factory hooks to stop it from tipping over during hard turns.

Gonna try this over the weekend. Will report back if it works!
