I’m loving my new RZ, but that 14-inch touchscreen is a total fingerprint magnet! I'm worried about micro-scratches over time and the glare is a bit much in direct sunlight. Has anyone found a high-quality tempered glass or matte protector that fits perfectly? I want to keep the touch sensitivity sharp. Any specific brands you’d recommend?
I think Spigen makes a matte one thats basically amazing!! Not 100% sure about the fit myself but iirc people reallyyy love it for glare and fingerprints. Seriously, the RZ is fantastic! gl!
Seconding the recommendation above. I’ve tested a few over the years and the matte ones are technically superior for these big Lexus panels...
* They handle the 'orange peel' effect better
* Refraction is way lower in midday sun
The one I’m using right now actually keeps the touch response super snappy too. Definitely makes a HUGE difference, you know? gl!
I went through this last year... wasted cash on a thick layer that messed with capacitance. honestly, r u looking for high-end optical bonding or just a cheap sacrificial layer?
TL;DR: Avoid cheap plastic films and stick to high-quality matte glass to save your screen and your sanity.
Sooo, I've tried many protectors over the years, and in my experience, the biggest mistake people make is buying those super thin, flimsy PET films just to save a few bucks. Seriously, don't do it! I tried one on my last Lexus and it was a total nightmare—the adhesive actually started to bake onto the panel after a summer in the sun, which is a massive safety and reliability concern for such an expensive 14-inch unit. Plus, they scratch if you even look at them wrong.
For your situation, I would suggest looking at Spigen or similar brands that offer a tempered matte finish. It literally transformed my RZ's cabin! The glare is basically gone, and it feels way smoother than the bare glass. Just be careful during the install... even one tiny speck of dust will drive u crazy forever lol. gl!
Building on the earlier suggestion, i've gone through a few different brands over the years. Some of the big name tech brands really nail the fitment, whereas the generic kits you find online usually have issues with the edges lifting after a few weeks in the sun. Comparing my old film-style protector to my current matte glass setup, the glass is definitely the way to go for the RZ. The cheaper brands usually use a different adhesive that can leave a residue, while the premium ones use a silicone-based layer that stays clean. I remember my first attempt with a budget brand... it looked fine for a week then started bubbling near the volume knob. Switched to a higher-end brand and it's been rock solid for months now. Just take your time with the alignment since those 14-inch screens are massive. If you need any tips on getting the dust out during the install, let me know!

Works great for me
