Honestly, I'm just starting to learn about this stuff but I totally agree with the point that the latest generation units are a huge step up for the IS!!! I’ve been reading through some other community reviews and basically here are a couple technical specs I keep seeing people mention: 1. You're definitely gonna want to look at the RMS power ratings instead of just the "peak" numbers they put on the box.
2. Make sure to check the preamp output voltage because supposedly that helps keep the sound signal clean through the factory amp? Does the wiring harness actually affect the sound quality though, or is it basically just for the steering wheel buttons?? I mean, I'm still trying to figure out if its worth doing the install myself or if its too complicated for a beginner lol.
