Should I buy a new Mazda MX-5 Miata or go used? Honestly Im so fed up with my current car leaking oil every week and I just want something that actually works for once. I have about $31k saved up here in Orlando and I need a new ride by next month for my commute.

But looking at used listings is making me so mad... people are asking $26k for 2019 models with 40k miles. Its barely a discount from the new ones! Is it even worth getting a used ND2 at this point or should I just bite the bullet on a 2024? The market is just so stupid right now...

Regarding what #2 said about the steering rack being incredible, I totally agree... it makes the car feel way more connected! Since you are in Orlando and fed up with leaks, definitely go for a new one. The used market is honestly a joke right now and you deserve something that just works without any stress.

  • Look at the financing deals! New models like the Mazda MX-5 Miata RF 2024 usually have way better interest rates from Mazda Financial compared to what a bank gives for a used 2019. You might actually pay less per month for a new one because of the lower APR.
  • Watch out for dealer fees in Florida. They are notoriously high. Since you have 31k saved up, you are in a great spot to negotiate. If they try to sell you a protection package or some weird paint sealant, just say no... you dont need any of that stuff. Buying a new car is gonna be such a relief for you. No more oil spots on the driveway! I love my Miata so much and I know you will have a blast with it. Let me know if you get a quote from a dealer and I can help you check if its a fair deal!

Honestly, I would suggest just going new. Used prices are crazy in Florida right now and with 31k you can grab a Mazda MX-5 Miata Sport 2024 with a full warranty. Be careful with those used listings tho... people are asking way too much for cars that might have hidden issues and you dont want that stress again.

  • Check for dealer financing promos
  • Skip those overpriced 2019 models
  • Save your sanity

@Reply #1 - good point! I just tested the 2024 and that updated steering rack is incredible. Its way more precise than the older ND2s... love how it feels on the road!
