Best illuminated door sill protectors for Mercedes Benz EQS?

Hey everyone! I recently picked up a Mercedes Benz EQS, and while the interior lighting is absolutely stunning, I’m feeling like the door entry area could use a bit more of that premium 'wow' factor. My car didn't come with the illuminated door sill protectors from the factory, and the standard metal plates just look a bit plain when I open the door at night.

I’ve been looking at a few options online, but I’m torn between trying to source the OEM Mercedes-Benz parts or going with some of the high-end aftermarket versions that offer different color options or pulsing effects. My main concerns are the ease of installation—I’d prefer a wireless/magnetic setup if possible to avoid tapping into the car's complex electrical system—and the overall fit and finish. I don't want anything that looks cheap or doesn't sit flush with the frame. Does anyone have experience with specific brands like Brabus, or perhaps those LED battery-operated ones that claim to last for months?

Has anyone here upgraded their EQS sills recently? I’d love to hear which ones offer the best brightness and build quality for the price. Any recommendations for a kit that matches the factory ambient lighting well?

For your situation, I'd definitely recommend looking at the battery-operated route if you're worried about the EQS's electrical system, cuz it is honestly super complex! I've been researching the AoonuAuto LED Door Sill Protectors for Mercedes-Benz EQS and they're actually amazing for a DIY setup. They use a magnetic sensor so they only turn on when you open the door, which is sooo clutch for saving battery life. Basically, you get that 'wow' factor without the $500+ price tag of the Mercedes-Benz Genuine Illuminated Door Sills.

Here's why I think the aftermarket ones are a solid bet:
1. No wiring needed—just stick them on with 3M tape.
2. You can usually pick different colors to match your ambient lighting vibe.
3. Much cheaper than the Brabus Illuminated Entrance Panels which cost a fortune.

Idk, maybe the OEM ones fit a tiny bit more flush, but for like $100-150, the value on the LED ones is literally unbeatable. Have you checked out the custom logo options yet??

Seconding the recommendation above!! I’m honestly so obsessed with the EQS but the electrical stuff is sooo intimidating for a newbie like me. Going battery-powered is definitely the safest bet to avoid any scary short circuits! Just curious tho:

1. Are you mostly worried about the warranty if you tap into the wires?
2. Is a "flush fit" more important to you than the actual brightness levels?

Basically just wanna help you find the safest vibe for that amazing car! 🚗✨

Oh man, congrats on the new EQS! The interior lighting in that car is literally insane, so I totally get why you want the door entry to match that high-tech vibe. It’s kinda surprising the sills aren't standard on every trim, right? Before I dive into the technical specs of what I’ve seen work best, I had a couple of quick questions to narrow it down for you.

First off, are you looking for a system that actually syncs with the car's 64-color active ambient lighting via an OBD2 module, or would you be okay with a standalone color that you set manually? Ngl, trying to match the exact Mercedes magenta or cyan with some of the cheaper battery-operated ones can be a real pain because the LED binning is usually pretty different from the factory diodes.

Also, what’s your take on the physical profile? Basically, the wireless magnetic ones are great for avoiding the CAN bus wiring mess, but they often sit a bit higher. Since the EQS has such tight tolerances for that flush look, are you worried about the sill potentially rubbing the bottom of the door trim? Honestly, some of those aftermarket battery kits are *amazing* for ease of use, but the build quality varies wildly... I’ve seen some that look fantastic but die after two weeks! Just want to make sure we find something that doesn't look cheap on such a premium ride. Let me know your thoughts on those two things! 👍

I totally agree with the battery-powered route—especially with the EQS. Messing with the wiring harness on a car this advanced is just asking for a sensor headache or a voided warranty. I went down this rabbit hole a few months back and realized that while the 'no-wire' idea is great, you really have to watch the thickness of the plate or it’ll rub the bottom of the door trim. Here are a few things I learned from my own install: * Look for Luminous Door Sill Protectors with USB-C Charging specifically. Honestly, those coin-style batteries are a pain and die way faster than you’d think. USB-C lets you just pop them off, charge for an hour, and you’re good for another 2-3 months.

  • Make sure you get the ones with the "mirror acrylic" finish rather than just plain plastic. The acrylic ones actually blend in with the EQS's gloss interior bits way better and don't look like cheap stickers.
  • Pro tip: Before you stick the magnets down permanently, use a tiny bit of painter's tape to test the sensor position. If the magnet is even a half-inch off, the light won't turn off when the door closes and you'll kill the battery in a day. I ended up going with a set of Kust Wireless LED Door Sills and the brightness is surprisingly close to the factory ambient lighting... just wish they had the exact "active" pulsing, but for the price difference, it's hard to justify the OEM hassle.
