We’re planning a long road trip and need to keep the kids entertained. The GLS headrests are a bit unique, so I’m worried about fitment. Has anyone found a sturdy mount that doesn't shake on the highway? Looking for something that fits an iPad Pro and doesn't look too bulky. Any specific brands you’d recommend?

• Honestly, I'd get the Lamicall Car Tablet Holder. It actually fits those GLS posts perfectly and handles the heavy iPad Pro weight without any annoying shaking on the highway. basically the best option.

I went through this last year when we took our GLS on a 12-hour trek to the coast. Honestly, those active headrest posts are such a pain to fit stuff onto because they're thicker than your average SUV. I initially tried a cheap generic mount but it literally rattled so loud I thought the iPad+was+gonna+fly+off&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">iPad was gonna fly off. I ended up switching to the Macally Car Headrest Mount HRMOUNTPRO and it was a total game changer for the iPad Pro. It has this sturdy aluminum arm that basically locks into place, so even on bumpy highway stretches, the screen stays still. Plus, it doesnt look like a bulky plastic mess when the tablet isnt in it. My kids were super happy and I didnt have to listen to any whining about shaky videos. If you want something even more heavy-duty, I also looked into the Tackform Solutions Enduro Series Tablet Mount which is all metal and super legit for the heavier Pro models. Just sharing my experience cuz I know how annoying that search is haha. Good luck with the trip!!

sooo just seeing this now... ngl the GLS headrests are a total pain lol. before you buy anything, what's your budget like? and are you looking for something that swivels between seats or just a fixed one?? basically the cheap plastic ones usually snap with a heavy iPad+Pro&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">iPad Pro, so I'd look for something with metal clips even if it costs more. it's usually worth the extra $20 to avoid the rattling tbh! gl

> The GLS headrests are a bit unique, so I’m worried about fitment. Has anyone found a sturdy mount that doesn't shake on the highway? Ok so I have actually stress-tested a few of these setups because the GLS air suspension has a specific resonance at highway speeds that causes most mounts to oscillate. When youre dealing with the weight of an iPad Pro, the center of gravity is the real killer for those plastic ball joints. In my experience, the only way to get zero-blur performance is to move away from the spring-loaded clips and go with something that has a mechanical locking screw. I ran some tests with the iPad+Pro&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">Arkon Heavy Duty Headrest Tablet Mount for iPad Pro and it held up significantly better than the standard friction-fit models. It uses a multi-angle aluminum pedestal that actually handles the G-forces during cornering without sagging. If you want the absolute highest build quality and load-bearing specs, look into:

  • Vogel's TMS 1020 RingO Universal Tablet Car Mount
  • ProClip Heavy Duty Headrest Mount The ProClip is basically industry standard for stability because it uses a machined bracket specifically sized for the GLS posts instead of a universal clamp. It costs more but the vibration dampening is night and day compared to the cheap stuff.

Building on the earlier suggestion, I have definitely been through the ringer with this. Last year we did a massive road trip and my current setup almost drove me insane with the rattling. Even with the GLS air suspension being so plush, there is this weird high-frequency vibration that just makes things shake if they arent rock solid. Quick question though before I get into the weeds—are you guys using the 11-inch or the 12.9-inch iPad Pro? That weight gap actually changes a lot in terms of which mounts will actually hold steady without sagging over time. Here is what I noticed during my own trial and error:

  • The thicker GLS headrest posts really limit your options because most cheap clamps just wont snap shut properly.
  • If the mount has too many moving parts, it usually adds more points of failure for shaking.
  • A heavy tablet creates a lot of leverage, so the ball joint has to be incredibly tight to keep it from pointing at the floor after ten minutes. Let me know the size and I can tell you if my experience matches what you are looking for...

So basically the consensus is that those GLS headrest posts are a nightmare for standard mounts. To sum up what's been said, you gotta be careful with the thicker posts so you dont snap a cheap plastic clip. Tbh, just make sure whatever you buy has an adjustable clamp range of at least 15mm+. If it feels flimsy, it’s gonna rattle like crazy on the highway, right? Better to spend a few extra bucks now than deal with a broken iPad+later&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">iPad later. 👍
